A Formal Apology.

Unread post by kkrazlite »

Hello everyone that being man, women, alien, animal, or inspect. My name is kkrazlite but you can call me Pepper. And i am writing this post on be-half of a formal apology to any and all who were effected by my character concept and rp/pvp shenanigans with my character Zeno Zelot. The DM's as well as other players seemed to have been disapproving of the way I role-played and categorized Zeno in that him being a Chaotic Evil, Power House, Talosian Warlord was not a great idea apparently. Especially in the fact of PVP incidents where Zeno would usually be pursued by the Holy / Good orders but usually end up losing or "gimped" out of their hands for justice simply because of the sheer strength in the build of Zeno which made him even more disapproving incidents to those who did not see it fair that Zeno could simply walk around and do what ever he wanted because only a select few (PC) characters could match / defeat him.

If you have been paying attention to the forums you would have officially found out that Zeno had been slain in a fierce battle between the Black Orc Savages and The Phoenix Company. (Special Thanks to both groups for participating in my event for that.) I am officially declaring that as a perma-death for Zeno and had distributed his DM plot items to the victors who had slain him. Any acts of Role-Playing to Revive Zeno will be declined and a poll will be posted in the future for claim of his Talosian Spear. (Ill probably do a auction for it or something.)

Again i am very sorry to those who had to put up with my rp and concept for Zeno Zelot. And i would only hope that it does not effect the future content, concepts and characters i proceed to create in the future.

Sorry and Salutations,

Pepper (Zeno Zelot)

Why would you apologies for RPing a toon how you wanted to? If no rules were broken and everyone had fun, I see no problem with it.

Make the end glorious so people will remember.

The main reasoning behind it was a lot of people were blaming the concept and the "Power Build" aspect of it rather then the rp. But in playing a Evil focused character i saw it essential in making the character as powerful as possible simply because of the sheer difference in good aligned and evil aligned player base.

Most of the time i was on my own in doing Chaotically Evil events and actions and against incredible odds of Paladins, Lathanderites, Druids, and all sorts of things. So my main intention was to make a tyrant warlord, something that could take on a LARGE group of people with little resistance because that's what i wanted as a rp concept. But a lot of players ( Especially the DM's ) did not like this style of play seeing it more as a means to continously get into fights and cause trouble via PVP rather then create a story. And there-fore i simply cooked up an event to ended it before things got worst.

It depends on many factors. I won't blame you for power building if you play team evil on a good dominated server like this one. The only thing you gotta do is try to give a good experience to everybody, and usually, if you're high lvl and a power build, it's best that you leave the lowbies alone, like they're unworthy of your attention or something.

People will always complain, it's normal. All you gotta do is give a good experience, and thus bring something better on the table than "im evil, i kill everybody all the time". It has to be interesting and intelligent.

Wow, what a bunch of pussies! ... To my recollection, Zeno rarely, if ever broke PVP rules. He only broke the rules ICly, like a proper villain. He was also a good loser when bested; he has sportsmanship. It saddens me how soft things have gotten here.
I guess folk would rather RP playing House and dancing in the moonlight.

Well done none-the-less Zeno. Very classy. You definitely took the high road here, considering how you were treated. +3

I'll agree with this. People who want to complain and be irritated will find something to complain about no matter what. Some people just enjoy dissatisfaction. Imo, just need to chin up and do the best you can. There is no pleasing everyone, no matter what you do.

Though, regarding leaving lowbies alone, some of my best experiences as a lowbie were when higher levels RPed with me, and yes, engaged in conflict RP with me. I wouldn't have had half the RP I had in the past if high levels had just ignored me, being like "welp! Low level! Don't want to do anything with that person, they might think I'm griefing."

An reasonable player will know what is griefing, and what isn't griefing (and its pretty friken obvious, too. Griefing causes grief!). Not to mention, if you intentionally ignore lowbies because of their level with regard to certain RP, that is metagaming. And you are denying them opportunity as well.

Personally, I'd rather not stifle their RP in the crib. And, if they turn out to be the "I have serious issues seperating OOC from IC" or the whiner type, you can always just leave them alone (and you usually want to. Those types are usually the same times who go on a 5-15 minute post PvP/post "on the losing side of RP" rant about how stuff in unfair and how they should win everything).

An apology is not enough Zeno. You must give reparations to the Orcs for the past negligence of the 'civilized folk'. I will accept a donation of all your gold and magic gear and then we'll consider you even.

i never had the "opportunity" to meet zeno in game, so i dont really know the whole story. But this kind of player not only seems fun and exciting, but something that falls in line with a fantasy world we live in.

if a tyrant is walking down the road. little people should scatter. and the brave will die or be heroes.

Hi,

I appreciate the apology. There were a number of players who felt bad about incidents such as fighting in or at the Friendly Arms Inn (rule violations). I hope that your apology reaches them.

It is a sign of maturity to wish to make amends, and recognize one's own mistakes. In England we call it rectitude of decision. It means as much as: Making sure you behave in such a fashion as that when you later look back at it - honestly - you won't find fault with your choice (Since if you are looking back dis-honestly then you're wrong anyhow).

Good on you for taking the high road!

Kind regards,

haha! But really, I loved Zeno, and if I am honest - it wasn't his fault the fight broke out in FAL, the 'good' characters were the ones who attacked him first (Unprovoked), and naturally Zeno would just defend himself.

I would argue that the server is dark enough already with all the other NPC creatures and monsters roaming around, but that all falls very flat without DM aid, thus player characters really help bring that threat forward.

It is not easy to play an evil toon, and I have a lot of respect for you Zeno for trying, but you don't need to be powerful to be evil - I am working on an evil character myself that will operate more like palpatine (star wars) + Sherlock Holmes, his bio is still a draft in my head but i'm sure he can stir things up and keep things exciting without going on a killing spree.

Zeno really added a tense atmosphere to the community and was the talk of the server for a good few days - we need more exciting RP like this in the game, so Zeno should get huge praise for trying.
