Looking over an edge
Hey guys, I just want to you guys to know that I don't know what to do with Kagger. First I'm hearing you guys want evil rp to conflict, but then the second I do anything evil it's a constant pvp hostility towards me. Not only that but when I am put in a corner. I feel as if I'm supposed to give up due to everyone wanting to beat me. I'm getting a lot of complaints towards me people calling me a : Troll, Power Build, Pvp Hound. But to point something out, ///Kagger has lost his fatih in Bane. He lost his powers as a FVS but kept the knowledge of how to do the spell(Cleric)(Hierophant)(Shadow DAncer). To which he chose to switch faiths of his beloved sister Desrah(Mask). Not knowing she switched as well/// That's it. Not only have I been asking for atonement it's been ripped away from me cause pcs don't want to deal with me when I said, "Take me in." I'm sitting here giving myself over on a plate and "No, Go tell the temple." Oh yeah because I didn't just give myself up and it took him all of his will to do so. I don't get what you guys want. You want someone that's evil but also a teddy bear or do you want something that you have to put your will against because it's a threat.
/end rant
Now that I think about it, I think it's that everyone was metagaming the fact that I was fvs...

A Formal Apology.[/url]
Evil aligned characters should not have to submit a player request to play their alignment. That is biased and a good / natural aligned player would not need to do such if it were in the same situation. . . . Even if you said this out of good intention a lot of people took it wrong. . . And i believe i did as well.DM Galatea wrote:Evil players.
Send in player requests. You don't do it often enough.
Just do it. Seriously. You'll make ADMs like me ecstatic because we can, for once, DM without a risk of conflicts of interest.
Do it.
DO IT.

Honestly, if I was in your shoes (assuming you want some advice) i'd have my toon laying low for a bit. Get off the scry, get off the road. Go plot with your buddies away from people. Let things blow over some. I thought it was great about the Temple but you can't kick a hornets nest and wonder why you get stung man. Just take a step back and figure out what Kagger's next move is IC'ly.
If you remember when Luke stabbed Desrah (sorry Silver_Lining!) I did the very same thing. Off the scry, off the road, out of public.
PS: I think the DM was just saying make requests. They want to support your RP.

Re: Looking over an edge
First of all, your evil RP is fine and needed. I have no problem with PvP or my PCs getting whooped in PvP (assuming there's no OOC cheating). I'm speaking for myself and I don't think we ever have gone toe to toe on any of my PCs.
Second, trying to atone doesn't mean people are just going to let you off the hook for the past. Think of it this way, on 2 levels. Let's say on a vertical up-and-down-line level, Someone wants redemption who was bad bad bad. On that vertical level, say with some deity, all's more or less cool. The deity can see what others cannot, faith and devotion. So on that level there is full redemption. On the second level, a horizontal left-and-right level between you and the next PC on the server, there's baggage. On that level things aren't solved right away. On the horizontal level people need to see time and committment to change (we're talking more than a week or two).
The problem occurs when people expect the first layer into the second one. It's an improper blurring that is so often confused in real life too. So a death row person becomes a Christian. Cool. The punishment no less fits the crime. Their eternal soul, however, is in a different position.
What you should do is what works IC. If you kick a$$ and take names IC, cool. If you want time for people to take you in, expect the same amount of time you RP'd being evil to move toward not evil. Even then some people will never be convinced IC. It's natural.
You should do what YOU want to do with Kagger and expect that the way people react IC may not be the way you'd prefer but might be the way they prefer. It's not about the short term, dood. It's about the story in the end of it all.

Re: Looking over an edge
I am sure it is difficult to play an evil character. with that said, people don't hate you. don't hate your game. it is roleplay. you are a threat and are treated as such. I LOVE that you built a powerful character. That makes the task that much more urgent and dangerous to the people that would go against your actions. the area we live is mostly Nuetral/Good Align. If you do something "evil", especially in the scale at which you are capable, you will be KOS by a lot of characters out of fear. Isnt the fear what you desire. Your game is going well from what I see.
I don't know what you and the DM's are discussing. but just keep them informed on your actions for now. You have a great opportunity to be part of something special on the server, but the DM's run the plots here. you need to understand that.
2 cents from a nobody.

Re: Looking over an edge
It's not even the consequences that this is about. I know what I'm doing I know how to deal with problems. What I don't know what to deal with is the people that call me a "Troll, Pvp Baiter, and Power Builder" When all I want to do is give you guys a good show. The conflict I give is what I wish I could do as a Dm. If there is no conflict, what is the point of adventure?
I didn't want to say this, but let me put it simple for you guys.
The Bad guys Will Never Win. We know we will never win, but we make evil guys for you guys to fight. We enjoy the conflict you give us because we choose to pick something we aren't in real life, and that's being evil.
The Zhentarim will never rise to power for long
The Assassins will be Hunted one by one
The Liches will all be slain
Spoiler alert, the good guys win.
We know this and we will continue to be the bad guys because it's fun for us to push you guys that extra step. I just don't understand the ooc hate.

Hang on....
There's a dead Lathanderite as you just wrote this. Right? He didn't whine or complain about not winning that I know of. He dealt with it. So are others. Right?
edit: I don't know who's complaining about power building or baiting or what not. I never have and I've never heard good RPers complaining about the same thing. Do people complain, yes. Is it for OOC or IC reasons? Base decisions on those.

Uhm... not to stir a pot here or anything, but I'm going to stir a pot- the dead Lathandarite has gotten yet another two week long attention circus out of his IG (second) death. This point, in this argument, is somewhat moot if you ask me.

I found his Rp rather perfect of a Paladin. No anger, No emotion, Just Perfection. Jealous of that since playing a paladin is harder than playing any other class correctly. Rp wise anyways.

Re: Looking over an edge
I am not suggesting that it's not warranted, or OOC or the result of aggression or any of what you just said. My point in making the statement I did is by using something that's working pretty damn positively in a player's favor isn't a valid point to tell another player to essentially stfu about situations that are *not* working in their favor. Honestly, it's just like telling someone their problems are invalid because other people might have worse problems. It's ineffective, and is not in any way actual "evidence". It's just demeaning a person for having what is to them a very valid issue, and telling them it's not. And no, I'm not going to go digging around the forums, nor do I need to validate myself because I've not posted here, like... ever. That, too... is not the issue at hand.Dagesh wrote:Second death of how many years RPing here? To answer the question with Kagger's RP, I can only speak from my own personal experience. Evil RP is *difficult*, because of the differences in the way that people view how evil is exactly defined. To me... and mind, this is only me I'm speaking for- there is a difference between being "evil" and just... confrontational, if that makes sense? Confrontational RP just seems thuggish, and in the end, yeah- everyone is going to want to kill you. I won't lie- there were a couple of emotes from Kagger's RP the last time I encountered him that came very close to what I consider "trigger-y"- i.e. things that make me just a tad too uncomfortable as a player. But... hey, I'm just one person. One way I have found that helps, even though it may for some destroy the spontaneity of the RP is asking in /tell if some things are ok to do or not.
