I'm not sure if this is a isolated incident, or if something broke in there, but all of a sudden the shadowing thing for observing people actively trying to sneak seems to have stopped working.
Imagine my embarrassment talking to a person no one else saw as if they were just hanging out. That created some strange RP. But! I think the script to shadow them over has been broken.

You only see people as dark shadows when you beat them using listen check. Because you don't know where exactly they are.Syracuse wrote:I'm not sure if this is a isolated incident, or if something broke in there, but all of a sudden the shadowing thing for observing people actively trying to sneak seems to have stopped working.

When you beat their spot check, you see them normally.
I'm not sure if there was a separate visual effect for "sneaking people".

See - that's the thing, I can't remember 100% but I'm like, 99.9% sure that the big update had put in something to shade over sneaks, visually, with a black tiny over their character to demonstrate 'this guy is trying to be deceptive'. At least, I think so? Ugh, now I'm double guessing if there was.NegInfinity wrote:You only see people as dark shadows when you beat them using listen check. I HEARD of something sneak-related, but I don't remember ever seeing it in action.Syracuse wrote: See - that's the thing, I can't remember 100% but I'm like, 99.9% sure that the big update had put in something to shade over sneaks, visually, with a black tiny over their character to demonstrate 'this guy is trying to be deceptive'. Re: Sneak shadowing no longer working?
The black-out associated with hearing a stealther is not the same thing as what was added. The shadow film happened whenever a PC entered stealth mode so that if spotted or heard, the detecting PC would have a visual indicator that the stealther was trying to stealth.
This mechanic was working as of yesterday to my knowledge.
As an aside, since that mechanic was added, I've had a few odd instances of being detected by PCs who shouldn't have been able to detect, though.
