My oldest daughter (5) just made her first D&D character

Unread post by ragnarok1983 »

Milestones gents. Milestones.

Her first character is a female human ranger (ranged discipline). Proud daddy moment. Good start right there.

Kind of reminds me of when I left a character sheet out after a game and my sister just decided to fill in her information.

Character Name: *Her Real name*
Race: Caucasian
Class: Grade 12

Laughed for hours.
Wirg to Pug: "Iz lat dun?"
Pugratix to a snarky militia man: "Mmmm. Not yet. I will live for hundreds of years and be heralded as one of the greatest forces of destruction on the face of the world. The only thing you can destroy is the outhouse."

Hopefully 1st! You have to start at the beginning!

Nah, went right to 3.5.

It's the one I am most familiar with. And it was *this game* that got her interested. "Daddy... I want to play! How do you play?" Me - "Well... we have to start with what type of player you would want to play..."

And so we had a conversation.

By the end of it, my wife was a priest (cleric in cloth), Her youngest sister was a sorcerer concentrating in frost magic, and my oldest was an arrow-chucking-ranger. She said I should use a longsword and a shield "... since you are a soldier."

It was just damned cute.

I'll note that the Star Wars Clone Wars (which is actually pretty dang good) was in the background during this conversation with my daughter.

I'm just *sniffles* so damn proud.

:) this post made me smile, there's no fulfilment in your own life that can compare to watching your child's fulfilment, specially if it's something you wanted to do!

Thanks Rag

So true.

It makes sense in a way. They love reading stories with me. Then that slow realization: "D&D is just collaborative story telling... Holy crap.... They are gonna love this!" Haha!

And yeah, kids have a way of making us smile, mrm3ntalist.

They've only see me play a few times (since I normally play it after bedtime) but my oldest naturally loved Paws.

So what I think I will do, is make a campaign-for-tots. Maybe Paws will be a silly NPC that helps them on their first couple journeys.
