DM Arrakeen wrote:"Yes but not only then," Amanda shifts uncomfortably.
Ameris nods, then smiles. "I do not mean to upset you with talking about this. It is important though, you tell me anything that might let us be able to help you sleep better, alright?"

DM Arrakeen wrote:Amanda shoots the priest an annoyed look. "I won't fall behind. And people use the mind words too when they don't want to write messages."
The priest is surprised. He takes a few moments before answering. "What are mind words, Amanda? I am not sure I can read them."

Later, Ameris would approach Amanda.

"I am going to have to go back to Baldur's Gate for a while, Amanda. I know it has been busy here, but you have seen both sadness and miracles now! Do you want to stay a little while? Are you sleeping better here? You would not have to stay forever, but Dawnpriestess Alesea could look after you a little while. We can come back and get you whenver you are ready."

DM Arrakeen wrote:Amanda could be seen wandering about the Temple. She doesn't willingly interact with anyone unless directly approached.
The girl can be seen finding less "sunny" spots and spending her time reading or taking care of Silvyr. At times, the child appears spooked but there are also moments when she looks calm in a rather eerie way. Mostly when any services for the dead are being performed.

Peccator wrote:Alesea directly approaches the little girl one day, her presence heralded by a soft footfall upon gilded, tiled floors, in the place where Amanda sits with the cat.

"Glad greetings, Miss Amanda." The Dawnpriest murmurs warmly. She offers the child a soft smile and slides to a carefully seated position next to her.
DM Arrakeen wrote:Amanda makes space on floor for Alesea making sure, however, that there is some distance between the two of them. "Hello, priestess." the child closes her book and puts it away.
Peccator wrote:"I had some word from Brother Ameris," she goes on, her tone filled with lightness and cheer, for all that it is pitched soothingly low. She brings a golden tome out of one of the deep pockets of her robe and flips open the cover, retrieving a letter written by the Ilmateri's hand.

"He sent you a letter, and I thought to share this book with you." Alesea holds out the letter for Amanda to take, meanwhile gently opening the golden tome upon her lap.
DM Arrakeen wrote:Amanda peers at the letter, her brow furrows as she reads then her attention is drawn immediately to the book in dawnpriestess' hands.
Peccator wrote:"He said you might want to look at a book of prayers." Her green gaze moves to regard the child, her soft smile blooming at the prospect of sharing such a thing with the girl.

Dear Amanda

I write to say how much you are missed. I miss our talks by the Shrine of Tyr.

Everything is very busy in the temple. I fell behind in my work! But I am catching up.

Would it be okay if I sent you mind words? And if you could tell me, when I do, if they are the same as the others you hear?

Brother Ameris
DM Arrakeen wrote:"Priest said you have tomes that are well written and have good picture representation of things in," Amanda says quietly, nervously tugging at the red ilmatari cord. "And could you send mind words to Brother Ameris that it's okay to send me mind words back?" she adds after a moment.

Peccator wrote:"Do...you mean Sendings, Miss Amanda?" Alesea asks curiously. A set of ink-stained fingers rests lightly upon one of the first pages of prayer as the Dawnpriest regards the girl's nervous expression. "When messages touch your mind from someone who is far away? If so," she goes on with continued warmth reflected upon her own friendly countenance, "I can certainly let him know that."
DM Arrakeen wrote:"I'm unsure. But it sounds like what I think it is," Amanda responds hesitantly then looks to the book in Aleasea's ink-stained hands. "What is this book about?"

Peccator wrote:The Dawnpriest's pearly smile alights at the interest displayed by the young girl. She offers over the book, turned to the first page. "It's a book of prayer and song devoted to Lathander," she explains. This one doesn't have very many big pictures, but..."

Alesea draws a fingertip softly about the border of the page, drawing attention the illuminations that have been depicted and interspersed between the text. "...There are some little illustrations of things that please Lathander all throughout, do you see?" She points these things out specifically. "Sun peacocks and robins; their plumage. Aster blossoms. Rays of sunlight peeking over the landscape..."

Her vivid gaze shifts to watch Amanda as she takes in the contents of the tome.

"We welcome each new day.
It is a gift to us, a new creation, a promise of rebirth.
May our hands do the work of good.
May our eyes seek the truth and revel in beauty.
May we speak compassionately.

Morninglord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is injury, let me sow forgiveness.
Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is sadness, joy.
Where there is despair, Hope.
Where there is darkness, Your Light."
DM Arrakeen wrote:Amanda's anxiety subsides when she focuses on the artistic elements of the book and the substantive contents. The child reads the words of the first page and looks to Alesea. "What does Lathander say about the dead? Is their death without darkness?" Amanda points to the last two verses of the prayer. Girl's blue gaze drifts to further corners of the chamber and back to sun priestess.

A letter is sent to Eldarian Al'maire at the song of the Morning, along with a separate letter to a 'Miss Amanda'.

The paper is of good quality and the handwriting is elegant and feminine. Drawn common spring birds frame the words. Overall, it is a very pretty looking letter.
Hidden: show
Dear Amanda,

I hope you are doing well and are happy in the Song of the Morning. I think of you and the shadows that are draw to you and I hope you find comfort in the Light. Please remember that you are a bright candle and many things out there in the dark are cold and thus drawn to such warmth.

If you feel alone, too scared or do not want to be there any more, just tell Priestess Alesea.

We are getting a new girl here in Pathfinder Hall. Her name is Mathilda. Perhaps you could both meet one day. She misses some of her old friends and I think she is sad. It is difficult to make everyone happy so I hope you will say, if you are ever unhappy.

I miss Silvyr, he is very far away but I can still feel him. I hope you do not spoil that creature too much and tell him off when he is too naughty.

Is there anything you need or would like..? I can send little things to Beregost.

With Love,
Telia Santraeger

Peccator wrote:"We are fond of a particular promise Lathander gives us: 'From death, life.' Just like the sun goes down at the end of a day, it arises again the next morning," she says to the curious girl. "The sun always comes up, doesn't it? So even though death finds us, life still goes on. Hope renews. And those who go to Lathander are wrapped in His Light." There is a comforting smile given. "We who follow Him view death as a reward. Where He is, there can be no darkness."
DM Arrakeen wrote:Amanda shakes head. "So all priests and priestesses of Lathander find no darkness when they die because they have served him? But others do end up in the dark. And how can death be a reward?" the child frowns in confusion. "I've seen death and it has nothing to do with rewards," a shrug is offered. Amanda reaches out to the book and turns a page to look what else is there.

*Young Kellan returns from another failed fishing attempt at the High Dawnknight's instruction only to find the temple void of all of the senior members. He speaks quietly to the Most Radiant Kelddath asking what tasks he wishes completed. Kellan, remembering the Dawnpriestess insistence that he take on tasks that are outside his comfort zone, elects to remain in the temple tending to any coming for aid, though this is decidedly where his skills fall shortest.*

Peccator wrote:"Death is a reward because, in the afterlife, we return to our God and remain in His presence; in His Light and His warmth forever more," she explains with a gentle smile. "People who follow other gods go to them in the end, whatever those Gods' promises might be. Some who don't believe in any Gods, it is said, might see darkness in death," she admits with some care and sensitivity. "But what death means for those who remain behind after a loved one has passed...is something a little different than what death means for the ones who have gone on to their gods. It hurts us here because we miss them; not because their souls aren't at peace," she murmurs.
DM Arrakeen wrote:Amanda thinks a longer, quiet moment on priestess' words. "What happens with those that even when they die they don't go anywhere and remain in the dark? They don't see dark, they see me." she finally asks, eyeing Alesea intently. "If everyone should go to their god, and they stay turning into shadows and ghost, is that what makes them so angry?"
The girl falls silent again. Her furrowed brow indicates that she thinks some more.
"I don't like that they come to me, I'd rather they go to the gods."
Peccator wrote:The Dawnpriest regards Amanda for a long moment as her last words fade away, contemplative over something. She does, however, turn her attention to the next page along with the child.
