DM Arrakeen wrote:Timmy explains what is happening on each picture. He is very involved in his imaginary stories.

When the question is asked the boy looks oddly at Ameris as if the priest wasn't right in his head then laughs.
"But you are ilmateri yes? So you are a priest of the broken god. Shouldn't you be broken, and beaten up and like him to be a good priest that takes all bad and pain, and suffering from others?" Timmy explains energetically, apparently having quite a vision about what being an Ilmatari priest means...
kleomenes wrote:"I am Ilmatari, yes, and it is good for a priest to take the pain of others." He smiles as he speaks. "That does not always mean being beaten up though. But it can, and it has happened before. Sometimes though, it just means being brave and doing the right thing even though its not the easy thing."

Ameris looks through the pictures. "I do like that you draw me that way! Its very imaginative!"

He pauses. "Telia might like it if you do not always draw me hurting, though. Maybe you can draw me healing someone sometimes."
DM Arrakeen wrote:That notion catches boy's attention. He seems distraught by the thought that Telia might not like his pictures. The little boy fidgets nervously. "I didn't know that! I... I'll draw differently now," he pouts for a moment. "Telia doesn't like you taking suffering and being a broken priest?"

kleomenes wrote:As their time together ends, Ameris remembers why he first actually came. "Timmy, we should practice your reading. How would this be? If I brought you a picture that I drew tomorrow, and if I do that, you promise to practice your reading with me?"
DM Arrakeen wrote:"Fine, we will read... A little," Timmy sighs with his lips pressed tight and quirking upside-down in a very telling pouty way.
kleomenes wrote:Ameris would return the next day, and present what can only be described as a well meaning artistic endeavour. He presents it to the child.

kleomenes wrote:Ameris explains the drawing. "Perytons are horrible monsters. Have you heard of them? They are like giant eagles with the heads of stags. They only eat human hearts. And only magic can kill them. My family used to have to hunt them where I grew up, as we had two magic swords. This is a picture of you and me fighting one to stop it eating Telia's heart! See, there is Silvyr. And there is Telia, can you see all the Mystran stars? But she is magic, so she doesn't really need our help!"

He points to the fireball at the last.
DM Arrakeen wrote:Timmy's eyes go wide at the notion of a peryton eating Telia's heart, he blinks rapidly. A mixture of confusion, irritation, and sadness show on boy's face. "So she doesn't need me ..." Timmy snuffles, fidgeting some more. Brief moment passes and the boy frowns angrily, throwing away the picture. "I don't need you too!" Timmy yells, eyes filling with tears as he attempts to storm out of the room.

Ameris pats the child's shoulder, speaking in soothing tones. "Its alright to draw me like that most of the time, if you think I am a good priest. Telia knows I am a priest of Ilmater and she loves me for it and does not want me to stop. But because she loves me, she does not want me to hurt all the time. Does that make sense?"

"Oh, she does, its just she is safe..." The priest starts as the boy snuffles. But when the boy's anger comes, Ameris gapes. He is perhaps not used to such; his own upbringing being rather regimented.

As Timmy begins to leave. "But I need you, Timmy. You are guarding my back, you see? What if another Peryton is over here...." He scrabbles for the drawing.

"Look. Look." He says. And points to the right side of the picture. "Maybe there is another Pertyon here, swooping down to claw our backs. Then who will save Telia and I? The one who is Like Helm, I bet!"

Ameris sits quietly as the boy draws. He is perhaps being careful, as the strange and unpredictable creatures that are children seem to be even more difficult to handle than his sorceress wife.

As the picture is shown, Ameris is quiet for just a moment, as his mind catches up and he evalutes just what is drawn.

"Exactly like that, Timmy! If you had not been there, what would have happened? I would have been eaten, and Telia could have done nothing because the magic fire would burn the Peryton and me. But you were there to chop it. Yes! Like Helm."

He grins at the boy; partially an expression of warmth, perhaps also a little glee at, he thinks, having saved the situation. And he reaches to ruffle his hair.

"I never ate a Peryton but I am sure they can be nice." To someone or something he no doubt thinks. Its not quite a lie, therefore.

A man clad in Red Dragonscale armor is seen standing guard outside the Pathfinder Hall. Carrying 2 crossed longswords on his back and another on his hip, as well as a large spiked shield on his arm. He is an imposing figure to say the least.

He stops all who approach and ask what business they have inside. He has been seen turning a few folks away and standing over others until one of the Members can be summoned.

Rumor has it that he spends his free time talking with the children. Mostly about his past adventures. But he is also there for them when they speak of the atrocities that they have seen. He offers them a shoulder and some kind words in those conversations.

After a discussion with Telia, Jarresh is seen leaving Baldur's Gate and heading south.

"She questions my honor, that is going too far. Do I hold the beliefs of the Order of Lions? I helped to pen the original charter. Helped to found the very ideals she strives to uphold. The nerve of that woman...."

After a few days on the road he arrives at the Friendly Arm Inn. Upon entering he orders a stiff drink and stares into the fireplace to think on the insults he just endured.

And the priest would pat the space next to himself, for the boy to come and sit next to him.

"Undercity Cleansing"
Image
Alongside allies, those Faithful to the Church of Lathander did venture, unified in mind and deed, into the depths of Baldurian sewers; tasked with the investigation and destruction of the city's increased undead activity. In expedition lead by Ser Aaron Lyonaler of the Order of the Lions, additional holy orders of the Sword Coast - The Song of the Morning, The Everwatch Knights of Helm, The Order of the Radiant Heart and the Order of the Silver Rose - took up arms and marched, side by side, into the heart of the undercity after briefing of informative nature.

Employing a number of strategies, the group found themselves tested time and time again; indeed, their worrisome suspicions confirmed in unfathomable ways. Faces, familiar to some, shuffled within the masses that seemingly sprouted from the very soil on which they walked. Ground set to shake, undeath put to mace and blade, the unified effort was met with confrontation of an unexpected kind. Faith, however, prevailed and the endeavor was finalized with success.

A lingering furrow of brow for that which was witnessed remained on the features of some upon return, the reemergence from city's depths bringing with it a poignant unpleasant scent amidst the clatter of dented armor and stained clothing, yet there radiated an air of victory as perceptible as the auras of their people. With them, an nondescript bundle of considerable weight. What would become of the city from here on in? What of that which was witnessed, learnt and recovered?
DM Galatea wrote:Word spreads throughout the streets of a large force of heavily armoured holy men and women descending into the sewers. They emerge many hours later, battered but elated.

In the days that follow, the commonly reported losses of children and young destitutes into the sewers dwindle to nothingness. The sewers have become notably safer for its populace of vagabonds and waifs. It is clear that they had something to do with this.

The tome is definitely a child-story judging from the fact that pictures are a dominant part of its contents. There are barely two paragraphs on each page. "You start," says the boy looking at the priest with wide, pleading gaze and places Ameris' index finger under the first word. "I'll trace," a solemn promise is given.

In truth he has not seen such before, his own upbringing too austere and formal for such books; it is more like the stories his wetnurse used to tell him, put to the page. He smiles softly at the memory, and this leads to a few moments delay before he begins to read from the page. His pace and tone is slow and clear, to allow Timmy to follow; although he does not make great theatre of what he reads.

At least not at first. He would check that Timmy was actually listening, however, and if he n noticed the boy drifting in attention, this would prompt the priest to set aside his own reservations and start to try and enliven the story by some (feeble) attempts at voice acting.

When his turn comes, the boy cough and grunts nervously before he starts very slowly stammer about the words. Timmy reads syllable by syllable, putting words together. The more he struggles, the more he moves. Frustration soon shows on boy's frowning face.

Telia can be seen showing a scrawny girl of seven to ten years around in Pathfinder Hall. The girl's age is difficult to determine. What may be strange is that none would have seen the girl arrive. Pathfinders would know that the young girl is Mathilda. Anyone seeing the child, would take note of an obvious and nasty looking scar covering her neck and cheek which the child often scratches. It appears to have been caused by fire.

The sorceress would be careful around the child as the tour is given, wary of the child's mood which is not joyful.

During this tour, one of the guards would be asked to stand outside Pathfinder Hall as Pathfinder Hall would not be open for visitors for a little while.

//OOC: Clarification: Not available for visitors for an hour or so in which one can assume this tour takes place. Pathfinders may be IC aware of the contents of this post but not others.
