Advice for learning spells from scrolls

Hoping someone can help advise on how to best learn spells from scrolls.

I just RCR'd my wizzie and am now leveling him back up. I made sure to stock up on scrolls before RCR'g. But with the new system for learning spells from scrolls, it means I need to actually cast the spell to learn it. This is fine for spells cast on my character, but more problematic for offensive spells.

Is there a recommended method for triggering these offensive scrolls? I know I can just go and fight low-level mobs but that seems like a royal pain. I'm thinking I could also cast spells on the training dummies near the Flaming Fist Captain in BG harbor area, but spells like Gate probably won't be much tolerated.

How have people been going about learning spells with this new scroll system?
