Custom Appearances Easy?

Unread post by DM Echo »

http://bgtscc.net/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=47647

If you haven't checked out the Custom Appearance thread, I encourage you to do so and please let me know if the guides there help to make your own custom armor/weapon appearances easier, or if I should clean it up a bit and make it clearer. If everyone for the most part seems to understand the guide and it is able to help them, then I will go by the motto of, "If it isn't broke, don't fix it." However, if the guides aren't very helpful or there are some things that still need clearing up, I will be happy to make a new video guide and clean up the post a bit to make it simpler. Please let me know what you think in the poll!

Also, if something isn't clear to you, let me know below and I will try to address it specifically.

I'm sure it is because I am mostly incompetent when it comes to all things technical but I seem to fail right from the start at trying to select a module. Apparently I don't have a module with any .hak files in it? I'm still searching to try and figure out where to get said .haks and how to put them into the/a module in order to get started with this. I've no idea if anyone else might have this problem as well.

I've had similar problems.. especially when I had the game installed in 3 different locations..

Check:
This PC>Local DisK (C:)>Users>(Name)>Documents>Neverwinter Nights 2

This PC>Local Disk (C:)>Program Files (x86)>Atari

And then check any other drives you might have if that doesn't work.

It does look like we need a new link to the files...

I will work on this in a little while.

Thanks for that, DM Echo. I do believe I have found the .hak files. I will now watch the video and see if I can muddle my way through. Whatever the result, I'm certain any problems will be due to my incomprehension and not your video and instructions. :)

EDIT - So I went through and was able to craft an item from beginning to end following your video. It was very smooth and easy. The only thing I couldn't figure out how to do was how to rotate the character model while creating the item. I could zoom and move it around but I could not get it to turn so I could see the sides or back of the armor. I'm sure it is probably so basic that it didn't warrant mention but I am technically challenged. :P

IIRC you rotate the model by holding middle click.

You need to hold shift or ctrl in combination with one of the mouse buttons.
