I plan on running Win7 as long as it has security updates and Ubuntu on the side. I may migrate to Win8.1 when Win7 no longer has support. I already have the OS's. Some of my software will not run properly on Win10 which is another issue besides telemetry and lack of control. I would consider running enterprise if I could some how legally obtain a license and all the software issues were resolved.
I have high hopes for Linux however. Vulkan and new driver support will be a game changer, but it is far from ready and developers will need to adopt Vulkan over DX12. I believe Doom is the first big game that will support it.
Regarding using a hard drive on the router, I am aware of the security risks involved. Thanks for pointing that out. I regularly scan for new devices that try to connect to my network. DD-WRT is a bit better than many firmwares too. I may just use a mini-pc as a host for Kodi instead. It seems there is lots of negative feedback with many of the routers on Amazon. It is a tough decision, but I am in no hurry.
I have all my parts minus a GPU and new monitor now to put the PC together, but I am not going to start assembling it until mid June.

I just saw this on AdoredTV which is interesting speculation regarding the RX480 and possible RX490.
Then, I noticed that Powercolor is coming out with a water cooled version for Polaris which does not seem to make a lot of sense for the power consumption. Maybe a dual RX480? I have no idea.
