So! Its time for this! I propose that the server move from PG-13 to 18+. Let people RP pregnancy, drugs, etc. I would say let people RP horror, torture, violence, and blood/gore, but, we already have that. In that respect, we are certainly not PG-13. So, why not go all the way.

Now! ERP seems to be a big kicker, since a fair few people feel shame or discomfort with regard to highly erotic sexual themes. This can be rectified. ERP can be kept in tells, or left to skype/Haven as it is now. We don't have to include it, if we don't want to.

Another side-benefit of this, will be the fact that we'll raise the expected maturity "bar". Currently, the standard is that of a 13 year old, owing to the rules. If we raise the maturity bar, DMs can expect more from their players. And, if players act like immature brats then DMs can punish that kind of unacceptable behavior freely. I'd feel safe predicting a decline in flaming, trolling, whining, etc. Currently, PG-13 assumes we are all children and treats us that way. Not only does that facilitate immature behavior, it is also demeaning to us as players.

This also opens new avenues for DMs, not just player RP. DMs can include more heavy themes in their events if they so choose, and expand their own horizons.

Player RP is obviously benefited, to the extreme. People who want to RP smoking hinweed, some of the fantastic substances the book of vile darkness has to offer, pregnancies, (and if the rules are to be believed) chopping off heads, blood falling out of the body from having 1 HP (a lot of deep cuts!), the spell "infestation of maggots", and so on are free to do so!

Its time to get rid of this antiquated and constricting rule, and let the beautiful world of FR flourish. This isn't a kiddie world. Its an adult world. So don't treat us like kids, DMs.

Well, no. Keep the server open to all who want to enjoy it as it is. Raising the bar would leave out the under 18s who may happen upon our amazing world and all it can currently offer. (Which is a lot).

Has this been frowned upon by the DMs or outright banned? I never heard of that. They smoke something like it in LotR movies...

Do you think a poll will do anything the countless discussions in other threads on this topic will achieve? The DMs who hold the lock and keys seem pretty clear on the matter.



I could leave or take the adult themes or explore them on another server but I wouldn't want to exclude more people than necessary: people uncomfortable or under the age. Sometimes being "mature" means abstaining from certain things for other's benefit...

decapitation is actually a form of perma killing (along with things like grinding bones after incinerating someone) and is pretty much not allowed either way since one one can force perma death on another PC aside from DMs

you would be basically limited to slitting half the throat

Drugs

Selling drugs isn't a theme we wish to endorse. The road it leads down is simply unsavory.

Alternative roleplay in that sort of genre could be selling other things such as corpses, token/trophies (elf ears probably sell decent to orcs), selling poisons, or various types of alcohol. Baldur's Gate also has a list of contraband somewhere I'm sure of it.

It's also worth noting that it should be consensual between all parties and the details made known OOCly before involving things that might "force" their character to feel or behave in a particular way. After effects of rage, for instance.

Those also wouldn't bypass our standard rules regarding PvP and NPCs just because someone was forced to "rage out."

It's appreciated that you ask us before engaging in this kind of roleplay. We'll try to assist you in any fashion that we can if we are able to condone it.

Guild Hall

As far as the Dead Crows guild hall being destroyed, we need to have a better idea of what you want to do in final before we can be sure that no other RP stakeholder needs to know about the plan OOC before we go ahead IC. Please let us know and we can work with you on the RP for this.

Drugs

Drugs include alcohol in my view of the world. Pipeweed could be equated to tobacco if that was really an issue. LotR was a pg-13 movie... and I still don't see the problem with it in particular. But whatever. I've seen all these rules bent or broken in consensual role play to where I personally don't think it matters much. This is the internet folks.

I sold hinweed, a lot of people sold it.

Hell I even sold Kobold moss which in turn was just a crappy strain and how we rped it. It was all in good fun. Getting Gala to knowingly sell me drugs in the front of Fai was great. I bought them for 25 gold each then sold them for 50-100. Renamed to Kobold moss for the fact that it's a lower tier heal and only heals for 5 instead of 10.

We do not know what the initial request to the DMs were as he just quoted the response (so not much educating going on there) so selling drugs to me equals the harder, darker substances which quite frankly make tobacco and alcohol look like chewing gum.
