Why Lock Threads?

I get you need to be in control and all, but you have to understand that I was trying to show that not everything is in black and white. You lock threads because people speak ill of Dms.

But it's when you see things like this and put them out in front for people to see.

If you noticed, I was only quoting Dialectic which is the only HDM I spoke too besides Golem.

I have no problem with the HDMS. They have a lot on their plates and also play their characters so that's double the work load.

What I have a problem is that nobody can make up their mind on a simple subject. Everything someone has a problem with something. You can't just enjoy the role-play someone pulls out on you at random. You have to judge it, then ridicule it, then make fun of the person that does it. Not only that but the Dm team also gets to voice their opinion to the HDMs. The HDMs feel like just a jury.

If you have questions like these, or complaints with anyone on the staff, please direct it to the HDM or Maecius. Those folks will get the ball rolling in the right direction so that unnecessary forum drama does not erupt and contaminate the community.

I will ask that you edit your posts and I hate to see anyone make a choice like this under emotional conditions.

I wouldn't lock as many thread. But to be fair, they lock a lot of threads, dms or normal players targeted. They show consistency.

Have to agree. Alot of the time to DM team thinks that locking the threads will solve the problems because of what? We can reply how we feel anymore? We can show your opinions on matters? We can't fight and debate upon things like adults?

Locking threads is only adding fuel to the fire and sitting behind a thick curtain talking about it behind ours back is adding it as well. You think we don't know what goes on behind the scenes DM's? You think we haven't figured out your little clicks and usergroups assigned to stating their biased opinions behind the thick sheet of admin only accessible forums?

And you wounder why threads like this exist?

*Sigh*

Well at least i threw in my two cents before they lock this one too.

PS: Thanks Kags for giving us all a fun time on the server through the good and the bad you were part of the community and that is what matters in the end. Hope you enjoy which ever path you choose on this endless road we all walk.

To day is a sad day. For whatever the reasons we have lost one of the best RP players this server has ever seen. Thank you Kagger for all you have done for BG and all the great RP you have brought. In fact, I credit you with creating my favorite RP moment of all time on BG! You will be sorely missed my friend.

Perhaps... But how he left out, was far less than desirable behavior.

Perhaps the staff can take this as an opportunity to consider what happened to get things so bad that a beloved player left in the manner he did. Everything that happens is an opportunity for self improvement, and our failures teach us more than our successes. This may very well be indicative of a failure on the part of this community to address real problems within the community. We should, in addition to lamenting our loss of a good player, search for these possible shortcomings and learn from them if they exist, yes?

All I saw was a locked goodbye thread with a bunch of other posts saying "[ Post edited for violating forum rule #2. ]". I am not sure how to feel about and don't know what "less than desirable behavior was shown." Which I guess is more relevant to the topic of "Why Lock Threads?" As I am now in the dark to what happened.... Anyway, since the goodbye thread was locked I wanted to say it here.

indeed I have given him opportunity. Check my post out above. Burning bridges on your way out in an heightened emotional state is the wrong way of trying to affect change.

After he sleeps gets a clearer head, he edits his post above, I'll forget what happened. If he doesn't, no love lost.

I'm not talking about his faults, Hawke, which have already been laid bare. I speak of the possibility that something happened, or a series of things happened, that created his visceral reaction.

It's easy to say he was wrong, and move on. It's much harder to say that while he reacted poorly, perhaps the blame does not 100% lie with him, and evaluate whether this could have been prevented, yes?

Look, he had a problem with people in the staff, yes.

There are ways of dealing with it. Mechanisms are in place to deal with grievances and no one is above the rules.

Virtual implosion is not the way to go about it, now we don't have his actual side of the story, just "Im gone".

Can't correct things without data and it could all have been a misunderstanding, becaus sarcasm does not translate well in text. I should gold letter this, but I hope my words convey just as efficiently.
