I cannot stand down votes from Reddit.
Unpopular stances may never be seen, when it could in fact be a good thing.

If the text is this color, I am on duty, everything else is just my humble opinion.

Agreed, I don't want others taking it upon themselves to remove something from view before I can read all the information and form an informed opinion based on ALL sides of an issue.Hawke wrote:I cannot stand down votes from Reddit.

I think the team should also actively head-hunt potential members to the staff. You won't lose anything from asking a person if he or she would like to fx. DM, develop content or moderate the forum. If they say no, then that's it. Nobody got hurt. If they say yes, you've just gained someone you know would make this place better.Maecius wrote:Volunteers are always highly valued. Even if it's just pointing out things that can be fixed, rewritten, or updated -- every little bit helps.
There are of course more formal positions available as well, but if those sorts of roles are too much of a commitment simply advising on issues in a constructive manner, like how Boddynock and Tsidkenu have done here, is very helpful.
Speaking of which, thank you for pointing out the outdated rule, Tsidkenu. I'll check with the DM team on whether they feel it should be deleted or whether they feel it should be altered in some way.
SANITY IS FOR THE WEAK.

They are, I, and a few others had been approached before even being directed at an open enrollment.
You could have an opt in for the feature, rather than it being on by default. This is mostly to also observe favorable and relative information by the masses (assisting anonymity when others decide to not voice an opinion), even when it comes as an opposing view to popular conjectures. Otherwise people who aren't in favor of reading nonsense flying across ten pages would simply not be bothered by it.Boddynock wrote:Agreed, I don't want others taking it upon themselves to remove something from view before I can read all the information and form an informed opinion based on ALL sides of an issue.Hawke wrote:I cannot stand down votes from Reddit.

Aren't people who don't want to read nonsense already not bothered by it by simply not reading it?Aspect of Sorrow wrote:They are, I, and a few others had been approached before even being directed at an open enrollment.

And assuming there is a way to totally disable the feature you mentioned on the user end, then sure, go ahead. Is it even possible? I honestly don't know how much flexibility we have on how the forum works.

I'm not going to argue against a feature some people may want and I can turn off if I don't like, and I don't think any reasonable person will (excluding some circumstance I am as of yet unaware). Can you write code?Aspect of Sorrow wrote:It appears the reciprocal is true.Boddynock wrote:Aren't people who don't want to read nonsense already not bothered by it by simply not reading it?

^ I personally don't think it's necessary to incorporate this function, but I do thank you for sharing the idea.
As it stands, we have very few, and very simple, forum rules and several dedicated forum moderators. Our community is nowhere near the size of something like Reddit.
If you find a thread that's disagreeable, just walk away from it. If you find it disagreeable because forum rules are being broken, flag it up for the moderators so that they can correct it.
