Personal Feedback: +4 Item store

Unread post by Akroma666 »

As some of you know, the new merchant holds many end game items that are +4, +4 with goodies, or +4 with different material (mithril bp). I also have a history of item additions to the server via the loot generator in the past, the staves for sale at sorc sundries, and a few custom spells.
This poll is for my personal reasons because I'm considering making new content again. The new merchant holds most items that are basic +4, but a few are missing. In your opinion, should basic no extra +4 standard material gear be sold on a merchant?

If this means every weapon, all armors with one exception being Mithral FP, rings, boots and amulets? Yes. They should. IMO. This at least gives PCs the ability to realize full ac and ab/eb that can not be dispelled/mords. Should it also include metal materials for weapons? I.E. COLD IRON & SILVER? Maybe even mithral weapons too so PCs can have lighter gear all around? For a low STR PC even a light weapon may make the difference? Am I posing too many questions? In the least it should have IRON Weapons +4, Basic material armors +4, +4 Nat ac, +4 def ac, +4 dodge. I know Deflection AC can come in many forms so maybe having each way for PCs to have some customization control on their PCs still?

This is for JUST basic items with +4 enhancement. No special materials for now. Just the basic +4 dagger, shield, boots, etc.

Materials can be considered at some point. But this is just a poll for my personal use and in no way reflects the staff. I am possibly preparing a proposal and want community feedback for basic standards. More to come..

I had already voted yes. However this is great! I know the Epic shop has some things. I am not sure anymore already if it had all things. I got so wrapped up looking at the top tier magical items I forgot the inventory of the Gold Sink.

I would like to see at least EB+3 cold iron and alchemical silver weapons of any weapon type available in a store somewhere.

I personally think +4 dodge boots should be a bit more rare or marked up in price, but I otherwise support basic +4 items. I assume we are discussing +4 EB and +4 AC items though.

I already imagine DMs in a month or two after a hard and long event which ends by killing a dragon onto a treasure.

"Oh god... theses PCs have everything, what can I give them so that they won't be like 'Bleh, another ring +4 to my collection...' and at the same time not over the border quality. "

What is the price for Dodge +4 boots? It is now varying already with epic dodge boots out there for purchase at less than 500 trade bars. In fact you can now occasionally find mundane +4 boots for around 200 trade bars from the right merchants. I would think we could price these boots somewhere between 150k-400k in gold. Although now with the Gold Sink setting a bar for Epic Tier pricing finally I think the 400k is on the high side. There are items that far surpass just the +4 Dodge AC in the Gold Sink and they are not above 500k or so. Not much in that store goes above 700k I think. Not sure what the highest price was. Being a QC member I am sure you know what I am saying. I guess the idea of rare for boots should be tempered at this point now that the cats out of the bag with epic tier items for sale.

Who wouldn't want a +4 ring?! That just saved money! Or better yet, the dragon can give actual money.. Which now has value..
I think its even more important to note, when was the last time a DM gave away a truly epic item. You know how much backlash that comes with?!

@Calodan & Eclypticon - the new Shop sells epic ninja boos, which are the only +4 with a bunch of goodies on them and cost 450k. No other +4 boots are available. My goal is to fix that and make a +4 shop available to all after some extensive travel or gold accumulation. Currently, a +4 item is about 30k on average (I think). I feel that's a fair price for most, but boots, amulets, rings, helms, and things of that nature should be priced higher at around 50k. One could get a full set of basic +4 gear with no properties for about 240k which is very reasonable IMHO because they can always buy an epic item with stats and bonus goodies for 200-400k, but that's just one piece.

It would basically set a standard for low-mid epic players. That way when they move into high epic, they could start saving for upgrades that aren't big leaps. Or take part in DM events for gold or items that are their existing +4 purchased gear with a new +2 skill mod! Or some new bonus ability score! Or bonus +1d4 frost damage with vfx!

I could not say it better myself. Thanks Akroma. In my mind the EPIC shop gives a bar of what can be handed out by DMs. This does not mean it has to be from that shop exactly. There are tons of items in the loot table similar to those that are not in there that can now be handed out more in DM events since items of similar value are now available. This is going to open so much up IMHO*.

The way you wrote that was really wierd xD. I think you forgot a few commas.

Alright so you want +4 gear with no special properties to be added? I'd agree with that.
