Advice sought: Portal Hunter
http://nwn2db.com/build/?251553
Theme build based off of this conversation: http://bgtscc.net/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=54191
Trying to keep decent archery skills to as back up fire for the summon.
Shaundakul is a ranger god of travel, exploration, portals so I think the class mix fits swell.
He'll be using Cat's Grace to fill a MBP and Divine Spell Power for a +5 Mighty bow.
Very feat starved but CL 28 isn't too bad is it?
Access to Portal and Travel Domain + Thaumaturge is a great themed PC.
Evasion and Toughness as well as most of the archery feats from Ranger.
I think AC will be an issue on this one as with all archers.
Any thoughts?

Re: Advice sought: Portal Hunter
I would say getting Travel AND Portal domain is a bit redundant—both have Teleport.
Shaundakul has Luck domain. Take that!

True. Same thought crossed my mind. I thought of taking Air for more attack spellsSteve wrote:I would say getting Travel AND Portal domain is a bit redundant—both have Teleport.

Air does sound appealing...what is Air Ball exactly?!

When you completely miss the basket. Just kidding. It sounds like a cool spell though
Edit: Will Thaumaturge perks work with the summoned air elementals from Airball, I wonder?

Wish I could fit in SF: Evocation and maybe it's Greater version as well. Most cleric attack spells, including ones from the Air Domain, are invocation. Conjuration seems to be more in line with a druid.

Re: Advice sought: Portal Hunter
Storm of Vengeance is conjugation, so that spell synergizes with Thaumaturge reqs.
Cleric 15 / Thaum 5 / Heirophant 10 could grant you 35 CL, and Greater...maybe even epic Spellcasting Evocation, but would be feat starved. I think it can be done but I'm on my phone and can't use the database.

Do the 3 elementals that get summoned from a cleric with air domain benefit from Thaumaturge perks such as augment and auto extended?

Thanks for testing Valefort. I guess my next question is, shouldn't it benefit from auto extend? Unless it's not considered a summoning, along with the rest of the new spellsValefort wrote:Augment yes but not auto extend unless I missed something.Kauaiian wrote:Do the 3 elementals that get summoned from a cleric with air domain benefit from Thaumaturge perks such as augment and auto extended?

I didn't test but looked at the script (so what happens in game may still be different, hence why I added "unless I missed something"
), as for auto-extend not being applied I do not know the reason, might simply be an oversight.

Re: Advice sought: Portal Hunter
If the spell Airball is from the sub school of summoning, then by THE RULES, a Thaum's Extended Summoning should work.

Re: Advice sought: Portal Hunter
RULES ?!
You obviously have no feelings for these cuddly balls of air that answered your call despite being all bunched up together uncomfortably during their travel then slammed on the ground.
More seriously from what I could see all the mass summoning spells (sandwarriors, bladeling, etc see there : http://bgtscc.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Summoning ) have their duration capped at 20 rounds, regardless of the presence of Thaumaturge abilities, so Airball' elementals duration is in line with that. If you think it should be changed make a suggestion but for now that is how it works.
