RCR WM from Greatsword to Bastard sword

So I currently have a lvl 9 WM focus on greatsword but I'm thinking with the RCR ending 25th I might change him to bastard sword so I can tank more with a tower shield.

The original build is along these lines but with knockdown and cleave so I would forgo knockdown and cleave to get exotic weapons and luck of heroes at start and blind fight, I do not know why I didn't take luck of heroes the first time but anyway.

I cant see the advantage of any other dips as I want full fighter feats?

just a thought, instead of taking Exotic Weapon Proficiency, you could take Monkey Grip and keep your Great Sword. Depends on if you want to use that shield more often or if you want to use PA/two handed weapon more often. Just something to consider since either way it's just one extra feat.

I did consider monkey grip but you get a -2 AB so I wasn't convinced it was the best way to go however.

Is there better greatswords or bastard swords available?

There are epic versions of either... -2 AB when you use a shield or - 2 damage when you don't... That's why I asked if you want to use a shield more often or two hand more often... it's kinda similar to if you want to turn on power attack more often or not.

I was going to dump power attack cause I never use it and if I dont go cleave I wont need it.

Plan is if I go this route is to use shield all the time.

If that is the case scimitar is better obviously and that or long sword saves you a feat at a cost of average 1 damage per hit. Bastard sword is fine for rp, but not worth the feat otherwise.

A couple things to keep in mind. Heavy armor optimization will not work in mithral full plate if you ever manage to get it. Putting stats at odd numbers let you get the most use out of +3 stat items. I would drop my Dex to 13, wisdom to 8 and raise con. Then I would take steadfast determination. Also tumble is not a class skill for fighters. So you will not be able to take it to 30. So only out 10 ranks unless you add 3 rogue or any class with tumble. 3 rouge would allow you to get expose weakness. But it would be a pretty big change in your build if the role play isn't there.

Yeah thanks for reminding me about tumble.

I don't plan on ever using Mithral full plate for this PC. By the time you get it you would of had far better use out of heavy armor optimization feats.

steadfast determination is a good suggestion.

What about 5 level dip of MAN-At-ARMS, gets heavy armour optimisation and shield block +1. and a few extra HP? Also gets tumble as class skill so could bulk tumble for those 4 levels and take 5th lvl at 27 to max tumble to 30.

If you can fit the feat, able learner will make it a lot easier and less painful to get tumble to 30. Then you could even have some UMD for scrolls and to equip items that have requirements
