We need to update these. Some info is inaccurate or plain wrong (like where our forums are for example). We could also do with a standardized resolution and texture quality for our screen capped backgrounds. That would require some minor photo shopping or grub skills with at least 720p screen caps (should 1080p be standard?). Some of the screens look good while others need a replacement. We could also try to get grammar and punctuation up to par as well.
I'd be willing to help with this, but I need access to some restricted content I think.

I have a bunch of these ready to go. Just waiting to see Duster come back online, and then we can put some in the game.

Re: Loading Screens
I received some input in the IRC channel about generating lag and high-res loading screens. To clarify, I think we should have some standards to work with. I am not suggesting we have loading screens at 4k here. If everyone takes there screen cap at 720p or 1080p with the same texture quality, we can adjust it from there to the desired resolution with less loss to overall quality.
I do not think it looks nice to see screen caps that are taken at a non native resolution for a particular monitor (they tend to look stretched and warped that way). I hope this makes more sense.
Do not be afraid to ask for further clarification because of the new rules.

Right. Are we aiming to get all of them as close to 1600x800 as possible, at least, at the same ratio? Otherwise, they would need a letter box or something, right?Aspect of Sorrow wrote:Eclypticon wrote:should 1080p be standard? The highest supported is 1600x800.Code: Select all

Re: Loading Screens
File size/quality can be adjusted in Photoshop. Or is adjusted there.
When a screenshot is taken on a lower quality/size screen, I have created frames for this non-full screen images, which allow them to float all pretty in the unused black space of the transition page.

Re: Loading Screens
As mentioned in IRC, I took a cursory perl script against gimp to enumerate the scaled resolution and quality output to ensure 4kb in size for each file and tested a few areas without much issue. 100 files for 0.4 MB commit. Should have no problem.
