You found the note on the Baldur's Gate Rules of Entry Board, attached crudely by a dagger.
Hastily written by an angry hand
"Name's Garyx. Maybe you know me, maybe you don't. What's important is this; I found this suit of Umber Hulk armor in a chest down by the Boarsky Bridge, and guessing from all the damn bandits I laid rest down there, whoever owned it's long gone. So now, well, I guess it's mine aint it? Problem is, it's heavy, bulky, and worse, smells like dead crickets. Now that Mudd fellow told me this thing's worth a damn fortune, so don't bother me with breadcrumbs, and if any of you damn bandits reading this come after me, well, I'll lay you down in the water with your brethren. Now, if you know what Umber Hulk is, and you got a chestful of coins lying around, I won't even bother arranging a meeting point, because I'm betting you have your own ways of finding me. Looking forward to doing a nice set of business with you."
Garyx.
