Warlock invocation. Lure shadow demons exp bug.

Unread post by Groburn »

There's a bug with a new warlock invocation (Summon Shadow Demons). The invocation summons 0-3 shadow demons but it seems like they are considered as dominated PCs instead of summons/companions and thus they reduce exp gained from killing mobs. Also my warlock is lvl 24 and the demons are lvl 14 and the exp penalty is about 30-40%. From a naga without the demons my PC gets 21exp per kill , with the demons he gets about 15exp per kill.
Also the spell seems to shift the alignment of PC towards evil. It's random but it does shift it when cast.

Naga, please.

/sorry... the temptation to say that was too strong. My comment is not helpful in any way whatsoever.

I saw that in the invocation list. I'm glad I didn't take it.

When there are pretty much no way to shift alignments on the server, auto-alignment-shifting invocations are a bit silly. That also applies to blood mage.

Also, the invocation is obviously homebrewed (just show me a PnP reference to it). Warlock invocations do not really have descriptors, because they're not spells.

In addition to that, if summons are treated as dominated creatures, it is highly possible that XP bug propagates to all the other abilities that spawn summons.

Update:
When i summon the shadow demons the mobs i kill give me reduced exp. But if the last hit to a mob comes from a shadow demon i would get full exp.
Other than that exp bug , the invocation is great and i love it.

So... whats the reason to use this over the dead walk one at a lower invocation level and with no xp penalty?

The exp penalty for dominated summon/associates will be removed since now the summoning system uses dominated creatures.

if you summon ( if you are lucky i mean) 3 shadow deamons those works as much better meat shield than the dead walk invocation ...

also in with dead walk invocation you summon a zombie it will follow you VERY slowly forcing you to recast it often to be useful ...

anyway i'm also testing this invocation and is quite good ( beside the fact that is quite common to read "you lured 2 -or 3 - deamons " but obtaining just one or none of them ) because the deamons are quite good ( they picks locks and disable traps for example ) generally and also in combat ... plus they have a permanent aura and summon their own minions ...

the only really disappointing thing is that this invocation lasts really few turns forcing you to recast it quite often and thus risking massive alignment shifts ...

( can we modify the duration ? or at least link it to warlock levels ... )
