Re: Rumours of Baldur's Gate
Talks in Beregost seapk of great concern over the recent sightings of drow, and most of all some murders that have been pinned on the dark ones.
Most recently it has been a trio of well known caravaners guards, Black Jacob and Sons, whom onlookers say was seen speaking to an elf, and then murdered in plain sight by what appeared to be darkly dressed drow.
The Lathandarites guards are alarmed over this recent string of events, within the towns limits, and their incapability for preventing such incursions.
There is a climate of great uncertainty in the air.

*Rumors around Candlekeep tell tales of Elves bringing in Drow to be raised from the dead.*
*Flying Demons, kidnapping Ulraunt and a group of warriors who made their way south to bring him back, returning successfully.*
*Guard now checking every person due to all the rumors of Drow constantly being seen around or trying to enter Keep. And posters with a sketch of a drow fighter, with his name labeling him Nymas at the bottom.*

Re: Rumours of Baldur's Gate
A few days ago, citizens of Beregost saw a certain white haired woman walk through the town, heading for the Cloud Peaks along with her companions. A short time afterwards, a thunderous avalanche broke loose on Mount Speartop, nearly dragging half the mountainside with it in its fall.
The roar of the falling snow was heard miles around, and the citizens of Beregost murmured about this ill omen.
Then the white haired woman returned from the mountains, telling anyone who were willing to listen to her that:
"Too long have I been absent and attended other matters. But let it be known that there is yet again an Icebreath in the Cloud Peaks.
In my absence, I have heard that dirt elves are using Auril's mountains as safety and solace.
Let it be known to all that no drow, nor anyone else for that matter, will set foot in the domain of the Icemaiden in hope for sanctuary, and use her realms to their own benefit.
Dirt elves be warned, the mountains are no longer safe for you."
The woman introduces herself as Irini, and altough people seem wary about her cold demeanour, they still agree that it is good that someone does something about the drow infestation of the region.

Re: Rumours of Baldur's Gate
Through paid minstrels and tale-telling in taverns full of drunk patrons, rumors of a great warrior, The Harbinger, spreads from Baldur's Gate to Beregost. Flamboyant tales of the mysterious warrior single-handedly slaying a Red Dragon are heard from north to south. However they tend to vary, in some versions he is accompanied by a powerful Druidess and the duo engaged the evil creature in an epic battle, pitting nature and swordarm against unyeilding fire. In others, the animals of the forest themselves gathered to help chase the beast, and in perhaps even more exaggerated versions; The Harbinger fought the Dragon in mid air, himself riding on the back of a Gold Dragon.
However it is said that none have actually seen the warrior, but that he is fully clad, from head to foot, in armor crafted out of the creature's scales. Rumors go that, even if victorious, he was left burnt and disfigured by the Red Dragon and that is why he would never remove his helm.
It is yet to be verified if these rumors speak the truth or are simply the result of someone's oversized ego.

There are more than a few people claiming to have seen a giant mechanical dragon accompanied by a halfling around the Gate.

Re: Rumours of Baldur's Gate
**A dark figure merely more than a shadow himself strolls through the Temple of Tyr, his hands gliding over the back of each pew as he slowly creeps toward the young Priest standing at the alter. A cold chill and light fog lofted at the feet of the Priest as the chill touches his shoulders; two hands twist his neck. The pop of the bone echoed throughout the temple, as the figure lets the body fall to the floor. From under the mask a set of cold eyes stares at the body a minute; then he proceeds to cut the hand holding the Holy Symbol of Tyr, from the body of the Priest laying it on the alter to desecrate its holiness. In the blood the figure draws the skull of Bhaal. As he turns to walk out of the temple a shadow springs from behind him; the figure says to the shadow; "Soon they all shall walk in the darkness of the Great God Bhaal, with each murder I bring the will of Bhaal to this city!" laughing maniacally as he departs, the shadow consuming the figure again as he vanishes from site.**

Evil has enter and defiled the temple of Tyr. Disgusted he falls on the floor praying. This must be avenged. Re: Rumours of Baldur's Gate
Rumours of a small one eyed elf.. talking to various wizards about Baldur's Gate about enchantments and bows. He can be seen slowly whittling away at an almost 6 foot piece of wood as if coaxing some sort of inner spirit from the wood itself. Those looking closely at the wood can see designs carved in parts of it, as he ssems to commune with it.

More and more people are starting to confirm the rumor that there is an orc Banite imposing his beliefs on travellers through violence.

Re: Rumours of Baldur's Gate
A dark-looking leather wearing woman hears news of the banite orc from a few traveller on the coast.
She thinks to herself:
I hope that I run into this orc myself.. let's see how loud he squeals once I have my rapier at its neck begging for its life. I am more and more looking forward to this. *evil laughter heard far through the woods*

To those who purchase their beverages at the Elf Song Tavern...
*The barkeep looks, smiling a bit and raising their eyebrow at you before continuing with their story, obviously a good one, and obviously one they like to keep for their reoccuring customers...*
"So, you haven' heard about it yet? Duchal palace was broke'en inta' not too long ago. Infact... it happened last night! There's been talk about a thief sneaking about lookin' for treasures and things of sorts. But it wasn' 'till this kind fella had a word with one of the lady wizards inside 'fore he took off, and after a few unkind things were said by the rogue, the palace was on lockdown! Yep, the Flaming Fist sure 'ad a busy night, what, with all that Cloak and Stars "catching fire" and now this littl' incident at Duchal Palace. No one really knows for sure what happened at the Blade and Stars. They say tha' no one on tha' top floor made it out alive that night... Also the Fist haven' really said much about it. I know a few who come in 'ere every now and again and they haven't said much'a anything about the incident. One said somethin' about "losing Henry" but..." *his voice trails off.* Anyway. Whatever it was that was going on, none of this was any simple coincidence. Hey, bottoms up fellas."

Re: Rumours of Baldur's Gate
*Rumors spread across the nearby lands, particulary amongst the dwarven kin about the passing of the long time chieftan of the Clan Ironfaar, Foinus Ironfaar. Apparently he left the leadership to his first captain and a trusted friend, as he had no rightful heir next in line.

Re: Rumours of Baldur's Gate
A new song is doing the rounds, particularly in some of the more disreputable taverns in town. No author is known yet, although some have ascribed it to Anden Soulseek, travelling bard.
The Hin Who'll Do You In
Beware good traveller as you explore,
Monsters abound and villains galore,
Vile briggands who are bad to the core,
Leave you bleeding and dying 'pon the floor
Travel these roads alone at your peril,
For beasts here are wild and monstrous feral,
But lest you consider my warning sterile,
Beware most the halfling called Seril,
He'll eye you up and down with a grin
All the time plotting to do you in,
His blade in your back, you can't hope to win,
'gainst this terrible, ferocious Hin,
If encountering him, run with no shame,
Back down the road from whence you came,
For he'll stick you, leave you dying and maim'd,
Your gold in his pocket is his only aim
Surely you jest, I can hear you laughing,
A terrible menance as small as a calfling?
The idea is foolish, the notion is chaffing,
Well, remember this song, as you fall to the halfling

Re: Rumours of Baldur's Gate
*Darkness hides the Shadow Minion of Bhaal as he sweeps through the dark streets of Baldur's searching for Sister Merielle, slipping between the cracks in the wood it searches each house to no avail. As it passes through a house with three sleeping children; it leans down listening to the breathing of eldest son as its hand covers the mouth and nose of the boy.*
"Sleep child." *are the soft wind like words of the shadow.*
*The boys eyes open and he manages a whimper; but only for a moment as his eyes roll back into their sockets, drifting quietly into death.
The other children wake only to see the red eyes of the shadow and a Dark figure standing behind.*
"Tell your mother, Bhaal sends his warmest regards." *The Dark Shadowy figure laughs maniacally as he and the shadow vanish before their eyes.*
"Come my shadow, let us look elsewhere."
