Verbal Components - Paladin/Cleric feats

Unread post by Glowfire »

I was playing around with Silence and activated paladin feats. To my surprise, I discovered that Smite Evil requires a verbal component. I can't find a source for that requirement anywhere in a sourcebook, so I'd suggest it's removed.

Turn Undead (and any ability relying on Turn Undead, such as Divine Shield and Divine Might) also require a verbal component on the server. This is a little bit more tricky. Player's Handbook AD&D says that "a touch of drama is important" (direct quote) and the character must thus be able to speak. Player's Handbook 3.0 says nothing about a verbal component - "You must present your holy symbol to turn undead." Suggesting that a holy symbol is all that is necessary.

I think it has been said that we use 3.0 rules? So the verbal component shouldn't be there?

How can you properly smite something without bellowing for great justice ? :(

That is sorted and should be in next update, for the turn undead part I'll wait on confirmation.

Thanks Valefort!

I imagine Turn Undead might need a bit of a discussion.
