Re: Underdark Adventure Group OOC
I agree. Something needs to change and we need a challenge. I've been bored and with the server issues and the massive DM plot not being so fun at level 9 I've not logged on for the group fully in a month I guess.khaevil wrote://
Right now we don't have any direction. And we've already done all the level appropriate content. Sitting around in a tavern can be a little entertaining, but if that's all we're going to do I'd rather do something in real life.
What I was looking from NWN2 was pretty much standard DnD adventuring. A small group with a DM. That was nearly what we initially got. There wasn't a DM, but we got quests from Max and it was close enough. I looked forward to it every week. It wasn't complicated in the quest hooks, but at least I felt like I was playing an adventurer instead of grinding a character.
Now, I dread playing as it ends up being a waste of my Sunday.
The large scale DM events were not a fun adventure. They have too many people to really be involved and with the large power difference those who aren't epic don't do much but cause lag. However, at least it was something to watch unfold.
Right now it seems to be either sit around and chat or make some flimsy excuse to go grinding and treasure hunting.
Unless we're going to actually go on a quest for the sake of adventure, instead of to gain experience and loot, I'd prefer to do something else with my Sundays.
I was also having more fun on the surface. I think it's because we were playing adventurers up there. Now I'm playing a student who bickers with his siblings the whole time. Not only is it not fun, it's stressful.
I'll be gone this Thanksgiving weekend and half of december.

Re: Underdark Adventure Group OOC
// I've had a problem with the premise of this RP from day one to be honest. I don't like playing in opposition to my husband. It's felt weird since we started and it doesn't make me look forward to playing every week.
The surface plot was much better for my sanity. As a new RPer I know I'm not supposed to take things personally and probably should not let it bleed into RL, but it's made me uncomfortable to say the least.
Is there a way to salvage this RP group, maybe tweak the storyline somehow?

Re: Underdark Adventure Group OOC
Well here's my confession: I've been pretty burnt out on playing before I joined this group. It's been pretty fun all in all so far; definitely worth it. But being burnt out means I get bored pretty quick if I'm not careful. Hence me leaving mid session during the DM mega plot multiple times.
I'd like to continue but let's try to make it fun for all of us or it's not going to work. I'd even reroll all new characters again UD or surface. Might have to wait for next year to get going properly however. Chaotic evil as a group can work but we just have to have the proper focus for a group.

Re: Underdark Adventure Group OOC
Some observations, hope you don't mind.
The UD is harsh in its nature, its just how it is, but I think you pitched your group too high by being first born, second born etc and being marked for greatness within of a large Llothite house from Menzo.
You might find more flexibility in lowering the bar a little. Something like this -
Antimar - Is the 3rd son and as a male of low importance was allowed to attend the College of Necromancy in Sshamath. Might be fun to give him some 'quirk' that meant they were sorta glad to see him go (Ie. playing with dead things as a child)
Jiv'undus - As fourth daughter and non-yathrin (Priestesses tend to rank higher in Llothite houses, not warlocks) she heard about Antimar's plan to go to Sshamath and also heard about the school in Sshamath for warlocks (School of Evocation & Invocation), the perfect place where she maybe able to grow her eldritch power to a level to compete with her sisters, and maybe even the Ilharess, back in Menzo.
Vlondia - born to lower ranking member of the house, she became the childhood friend of Jiv'undus (I forget the proper name of it) and was later 'promoted' into the main family by being allowed to marry Antimar. Thing is she does also love Antimar (man I'm getting soft in my old age) and despite the traditional female dominated values wants to see him do well, but is also conflicted with her loyalty to her friend / tradition.
Domak - Not just a slave but personal bodyguard to Jiv'undus and fiercely loyal in is duty and the main family (Which includes Antimar & Vlondia). However he is intelligent for a tanurakk and gradually notices how much Antimar grows now free of Menzo. He also notices how much better, on average, slaves are treated in Sshamath than in Menzo.
Jiv'undus, although a traditionalist, may come to view Antimar & Vlondia as potential assets in her ambitions to become 1st daughter (like all good drow daughters do ;P, and even Ilharess) back home.
This gives your group plenty of dynamics and two schools to RP around, whilst releasing you a little bit from the more fanatical side of a Llothite house.

That's some nice input, thanks, BigJ.
I am pretty clueless on house structure and hierarchies so it's stuff I wouldn't have thought of.
I did drop Domak when I found out slavery is against the rules. I play a drow sell sword of swords atm. Shi'litar the indebted one... Domak was fun though. Might yet bring a more mentally able tanukrak out.

Re: Underdark Adventure Group OOC
I am open to making this more fun for everyone. UD RP is challenging. Jiv'undus' RP was even more so. I apologize to you xorena if I had put you in an uncomfortable place even if i think that the reflection showed well in your PC's natural discomfort and her RP from it. If i were to rank our RP, my vote would say that you did the best.
simply playing a typical adventure group is going to be far easier than what we had imagined with our family based dynamic. I have no problem doing whatever you guys want to. my RL persona would want to push the limit and see if i am up to the challenge. but this is a team and am perfectly happy playing within the team. and my RP needs work, so it would be a benefit to me to lower the bar a bit.

Well I had a nice Christmas break. I'd join the group up again on Sundays next year... What's everyone thinking? Surface might be more desirable.
