So I've got this hankering to build a master swordsman character who does *not* use a rapier. Think more like a samurai, or a blademaster from Wheel of Time - single sword (ideally katana, longsword or greatsword), with no shield and who doesn't use magic (in terms of wizard, bard, sorcerer etc levels). Some UMD for wands would be acceptable, as would hips under the right circumstances.
He/she wouldn't need to put out devastating damage - looking for more the idea of a warrior who doesn't get hit rather than a glass cannon. Hips would be a possibility for battlefield maneuverability, but he shouldn't be relying on sneak attacks to get the job done.
My early thoughts were fighter-dervish (and maybe sneaking 4-5 levels of duelist in for AC, even though he wouldn't use a finessable). Maybe one of the new combat feats for an ac boost as well.
Thoughts? Ideas?

Dervish is excellent for this kind of build since it gives AC and burst damage. I would do something along the lines of this - http://nwn2db.com/build/?163779
Instead of SD you can go Whirling Dervish or even rogue. You can fit in ICE for more AC - 50 i think with ICE on and no umd.

A mix with duelist and monk is also possible : http://nwn2db.com/build/?258405

In this challenge, I have another idea: use FoF instead of Monk, and WD instead of either Deverish or Duelist to retain EW. So Earth gen can be used without xp penanty. The final stas may be str22-24 and con21-24. You can get AC and HP together. The DR and Fast Healing are also opened to you. High con with 180+ more HP is always nice, and it will be much better with Steadfast DeterminationValefort wrote:A mix with duelist and monk is also possible : http://nwn2db.com/build/?258405
