It is rumored that Saul Aurora has sent a letter to the High Radiance in Waterdeep regarding the Inquisition. He would defend this initiative with firm conviction.

A letter arrives at the Spires of the Morning, addressed to the Sunrise Lord...

Most Reverend Eminence,

Hail Lathander! May His Glorious Light push back the dark edges of dawn in a glowing cascade, and immerse the entire world in the beauty of a new beginning, with every color bright and anew!

I am not certain if Your Eminence recalls me. My name is Saul Aurora and we once met in person about eleven summers ago. I was the one who managed to face and survive a battle with a powerful lich through my Awakening during a mission for the City Guard, and my body was retrieved by my great-grandfather and Dawnbringers of the temple. After this event You came to the recovery room and were so kind to inform Yourself about my loss and my Awakening. I shall never forget Your words of sympathy about the loss of my wife Anika Danisha. She is truly in the light and You still have my deepest sympathy in return.

However, I am not writing You about this case but about another that seems to be ordered by our temple in Waterdeep. I am referring to the case in which an Inquisition has been set up in Waterdeep, and which was sent to the region where I am now staying, Baldur’s Gate and its surroundings to be more specific.

Now, forgive me for my moment of doubt as I mean no offence, but according to the letter, carried by a man who seems to be appointed as leader of this initiative, this Inquisition came down here with a few purposes. Since it appears I am somehow representing the Song of the Morning temple in Beregost now, I would like to learn more on both the Inquisition as well as the man known as Ildar Drakebiter, from what I heard a fellow citizen of Waterdeep. If it helps, according to some correspondence he uses the following titles : Grandmaster Inquisitor and Dawnknight. Also, I like to learn if this Inquisition has been formed by the Church, or if it has been the initiative of certain people? And, are they supervised by Waterdeep?

One of the reasons why I ask the Church in Waterdeep this information is that at this point a few unpleasant events have occured in which the Inquisition and its members stationed here in the Song of the Morning were involved. Perhaps the Church was already informed, and if not, please find a copy in this envelop with what I know thus far. More information and reports will be send later.

The other reason why I write You about this is to express my concern of how we seem to be looked upon as a Faith. Though I know we strive to convince people of His light, in this Inquisition initiative the Faith rather comes across as intrusive, and I have been addressed about this more than once. Few people even have started to wonder whether the Faith is paving the way to another approach.

I merely wish to spread the light to this region, preserve what we have and increase the frequency of positive renewal activities in the population’s life.

It is a quiet day at the temple when Hazel is seen walking in.
She walks up to the altar and to the priest who always welcomed her warmly into the house of Lathander.
He looks up in surprise when he sees her placing the banner down on the altar, it is her personal banner that she always carried around with so much pride.
After placing the banner down she looks at him with a warm smile and starts to speak.


Thank you for always being so kind to me and my friends.
I am sorry that a corrupt lathanderite made the church look so bad.
We are also sorry that those who believed in your cause where not up to the standards of the church. Please do not think there is any anger or resentment from those who where left behind, while not even being aware what was going on. All of us still believe the church wanted to do the right thing. We understand in order to keep the church safe you have to exclude those you do not feel worthy.

We too are going to do the right thing. We will open ourselves up for true goodness and take in all who wish to do good yet are not worthy enough for your ranks to be taken in.
So you will not have to feel bad for them anymore. There will be a place for them to feel safe, where they can truly do good.

After saying what she needed to say, she touches the banner as if saying goodbye without words. Then leaves towards the exit without her beloved banner. As she walks away, she stops at the end and turns around to give the confused looking priest one more smile.

Hours pass before he arrives. Finally, the scribe would make it to Beregost. Already with hammer, nail; and scroll in hand. He would make his way towards the Rising Pheonix Inn's stand and nail it firm to it. Making sure it does not block the letters that are placed underneath the parchment.

A group of investors gather at a series of Inns all along the coast. Though their investment has broken ground, they still haven't the staff to supply their dream of providing happiness or turning a profit.

The Investors consisted of a short dark skinned hinn that wouldn't stop talking, a masked chilling blue man who's head circled with a bolts of lightning, a paladin with bright blond hair and a shining set of golden armor, and a bald tattooed wizard clad in red robes. One of the 4 would consistently tack a notice on the door of each of their visited locations where they would sit and bicker back and fourth sparing no expense on the food and drink. There they would sit all day as various patrons would approach the 4 and begin a long or extremely short interview. Once night fell, they would travel to the next tavern and rest for the night only to begin the process again in the morning.

A closer inspection of the parchment would read:

Half of the martial forces of Beregost were sent out in pursuit of a savage orc after a local farming woman rushed into the town and raised the alarm. A short time later, a bloody, battered, and unconscious woman who had the symbol of Candlekeep pinned to her mithril chainshirt was hurried into the Song of the Morning Temple by Amnian guards.

A candle-mark or so afterwards, more guards returned to the temple carrying a bloody, battered, and unconscious man wearing golden armor and the symbol of Lathander.

All across the coast notices are put up by paid couriers from Darkhold to Amn the notices are nailed up to public boards and tavern walls.

A familiar face can be seen by residents of Beregost and frequenters of the Song of the Morning Temple therein. Kellan Armstrong, deacon and initiate to the clergy has returned from pilgrimage, only to find the temple staff greatly diminished. With a determined expression he sets his ever present satchel in his chambers and returns to the sanctuary to speak with the high priest, seeking guidance on where to begin in the resumption of his duties.

A sealed scroll is delivered to the Barracks, addressed to Sheriff de Oca. It is sealed with the eight-pointed Star of Mystra pressed into blue wax. The elven ranger-courier quickly departed north afterwards.

Kellan Armstrong, the simple young clergyman of Lathander can be seen often in the Beregost and the surrounding areas. He can be seen tending to various tasks ranging from simple ministering to minor acts of healing, visiting the elderly that are shut ins and cannot make it to mass to driving off pests from the outlying farmsteads. He is mostly quiet in his speech, obviously no great orator but providing a simple and consistent message of faith, righteousness, grace and renewal of both body and spirit. Always he points to the glory of Lathander, resolute in his preaching with an easy smile beneath his orange beard.
