A big man in dark armor is seen purchasing a large order of arms and armor from Maltz the smith.
Some might recognize him as Everett Blackwolf of the Ebon Blade.

A wagon waiting outside the merchant's store would be loaded up shortly afterward.
Tarps would be secured over the load before travel, but those at the right place at the right time may notice enough quality arms and armor to fully equip over a dozen soldiers, as well as ammunition and medical supplies.

The warrior sits alongside the driver as they bumpily make their way North to Thundar's Ride and beyond. What could the Ebon Blade be planning? -some inquisitive minds may wonder..

Rumors of the Docks
Image
Travelers arriving in Baldur's Gate via the East Harbor might notice some strange things at first glance. The Flaming Fist presence on the docks themselves would seem somewhat minimal, despite it being such a high-traffic area, with valuable goods coming in and going out on an almost continuous basis. While one might think this would create for a breeding ground for armed robberies, extortion and murder, this part of the city has much less violent crime than one would expect.

While some with less insight might attribute it to the Flaming Fist Headquarters looming in the northern parts of the district, those who actually spoke to the people who lived or worked in the area would be met with some strange rumors. Tales of watchers in the night. Many might speak of times now and again when those who brought the locals harm or tried to prey on one of them in one way or another were taken by these "watchers," yanked into the shadows and never seen again.

Those who spoke to the Flaming Fist about the rumors would be met with various theories and speculation depending on who exactly they talked to, but one aspect would remain consistent throughout: the mercenary company's attitude was that they had no interest in fixing what wasn't broken.

A smiling gold elf with a sword and dagger on her hips strolls about the docks this night looking for any gambling and drinking she may join. She is in all black with grey boots, a black cloak and a black hood. She works to suppress the smile on her face as she stops in an alleyway and carves into the side of a warehouse "Bentley Mirriorshade fornicates with smelly dwarf women". She then continues her walk about with a slight skip to her step.

The burnt corpse of an unidentified female was removed from the gates of the graveyard by the caretaker today and given a pauper's burial in a common grave. Given the position her corpse was found in, it appeared she had been fleeing in terror from something within the walled cemetery, her hand stretched forth in a vain attempt for freedom.

Closer examination of the remains would reveal she was not slain by whatever fires had charred her, but by a singular coup-de-grace of a short, piercing blade to the middle of her spinal column. A blackwood longbow and a magically enchanted breastplate were recovered from the scene, the only surviving tokens of the woman's identity. They were seized and sold by the caretaker as remuneration for the funerary rites.

Rumour has it that the elderly blacksmith, Gideon Smith, passed during the night in his sleep.

There has been talk among the few places he frequents about his dwindling health as of late, the man subject to an aggressive sickness that took the old smith's life. The temple to Torm, the silver-haired craftsman's patron deity, will he hosting a small memorial for the deceased within the next few days.

It was early morning when the Darius company and friends gathered in the Muse, drinks stories and music were shared before heading towards the harbor-side, as they arrived near the Fishfull thinking they started to board. Fingal was carrying a small keg over his shoulder, clearly the young man didnt want to get stuck somewhere without whiskey! Leaving the harbor was a bit of a struggle, the crew has been telling stories of how boss Fingal Darius took the wheel and ended up hitting the Rose on their way out of the harbor...
Many hours pass and they return to the docks with treasures, plenty of treasures!

((Thank you Creo!
Fingal Darius.

Rumor also has it that the Temple of Torm would receive official documents detailing the disbursement of Gideon's small estate- A trust to be set up for Gideon's 14 year old apprentice until the lad reached the age of 18, at which time the Smith's holdings would be signed over to him minus a single donation to the orphanage from where the apprentice had come.

Payment for the Smith's memorial services would have been handled entirely by the Estate's executor, rumored to be one Wren Di'Corvi.

If asked, the young apprentice would say that the only thing the silver-haired half elf would keep for herself would be Gideon's own smithing hammer, and bid of him to "Stay true, and learn to dance."

A sun elf dressed like a typical hunter would be seen at the Temple of Torm a whole day, before, during and after the memorial. During it, she would approach the old man, place a hand on his shoulder and whisper:
"Farewell, kinsman. Hero of the Dead Orc Pass. I will make sure you are remembered in Sundabar... As you will be forever remembered by me."
Most of the time on this day, the elf would be silently sheding tears.

The town crier of the East District of Baldur's Gate is paid to spend an hour each division of each day for one week, presenting in full vocal expression, the following message for whomever is within ear shot:

"Let it be known that he by name of Aldebaran, Cephalian of the the Eternal Transformation and Warden of the Celestial Gate, has followed one course in the Water Way, bringing his presence to this local, that he may pool together those in service to the various churches under the Water Lord's domain. Let all essential truths find their natural way, into a new and regional congress. And additionally, those that take profession in the unraveling of truths between domains both perceived and hidden, through gates and portals in time and space, may join into the process of unveiling, the cycles of life which is also the cycle of fate."

If any would attempt to question the Town Crier over either meaning of the message, or to whom this Aldebaran is—or what he looks like—the Crier could only possibly respond that the man who paid for such a recital was aged, bald and with a healthy mustache...and only that after payment, the man spoke idly of needing to deliver a formal message to the Lords of this City, and departed in the direction of the Palace District.

The Moonlady Shandril Brightmantle is seen strolling about the docks with a basket of Ipomea Alba petals, spreading the moonflowers along the docks both on land and in the water. She blesses each vessel that will accept it and offers the captains brilliant gemstones of a deep blue hue, imbued with persistant light spells and shimmering brightly.

Bidding captains, deckhands and all manner of sailors to find comfort in steering by the sea of night and the illuminated paths of the Moonmaiden. Those weary from their long voyages and in need of more quiet time and sanctuary, perhaps even help to show restraint from burning a hole in their lined pockets at the local taverns. All and any will be welcomed in the Halls of Inner Light.

Knight-Commander Boris Vyacheslav has taken Squires and Knights by some surprise this month in what has officially been called an "annual review of skill at arms".

According to a strict roster personally designed by Boris, the Knights and Squires of the Baldur's Gate Enclave have been systematically summoned to fight one another in the Enclave's melee arenas.

At least a dozen men have been mortally wounded or outright killed in the process of these intense live combat events which Boris personally oversees.

Some days later the priest of Ilmater known as Ameris Santrager can be seen entering the Temple of Torm, seeking to make enquiry of Gideon Smith. It is clear that the man already strongly suspects the Smith's passing, but hopes to be wrong nonetheless.

Upon having the news confirmed the priest would set about a vigil in the temple, paying his last respects to the faithful smith.

Before he leaves, he checks with the clergy as to the safety and wellbeing of Gideon's ward. His expression at what he is told can only be described as pensive.

Subject: The Church of the Water Lord, Istishia

Some motion to a posting that was seen made on the public bulletin in the East District, during the middle-month of Deepwinter:
  • The Church of the Eternal Transformation, that of the Water Lord himself, under unexpressed oversight by the Lords of the City, does call forth and upon any that shall have been witness or full of knowledge of such portals between the here and there, both permanent and temporary, or, any gateway between one realm known to another either known or unknown, such that man or beast may enter and pass freely, or, obstructed unless in possession of such keys of unlocking. Compensation in coin or deep water gems are offered for points of direction, maps or tomes that address such to-be-founds. Of particular value is portals of travel that may reside within the city of Baldur's Gate, as is rumored to exist, but remain...shadowed.
