swashy/SD build

Unread post by aaron22 »

i have to choose between taking two more levels at 29-30 in either swashy to 19 or SD to 5. swashy gets wounding crit and extra AB, and SD gets shadow evade, improv uncanny and def roll. what do you think?

unless SD 5 is going to qualify you for Epic Dodge, and you have a feat at level 30 that you can spend on epic dodge, I'd go for SB 19 and Wounding Critical.

SB 19, no question about it.

should i work around things to try and get epic dodge. maybe sacrifice improved parry. parry is kind of what i wanted to get from her.

Epic Dodge is one of, if not the best epic feats... If you have the ability to get it, you should get it. It is to defensive feats what Expose Weakness is to offensive feats... Armor Skin gives you a +1 AC, Epic Dodge, by making the first attack from all enemies miss is effectively a +5 AC and - 1 APR to anyone attacking you.

That said, not sure if you can actually qualify for it, since I am assuming you are X8/SB17/SD3... Epic Dodge is really difficult to qualify for...

yea.. not sure i want to do that much sacrificing of the build concept to fit in even an amazing feat. would need to fit in 7 more levels of rogue. not something i am too interested in doing.

build is R3/SB19/Tmp5/SD3. concept is PTWF/Parry.. need HiPS to survive right now. hence the SD.

Yep, you're solid, ED is not a possibility with this build, so as Valefort and I previously said, you are better off with SB19...

Or as Vale just stated, you could always go SB20/SD10...but that would be far from optimized! :D

optimization is not something paramount for me. i was just torn between whether to take my last levels swashy or SD.

optimized.. you read that this is a parry build right?

optimization can mean many things. First you have your RP concept, then you come up with your general build and then you optimize as best you can within the constraints of your concept. You can have a fully optimized build that is still really weak mechanically, for instance if you took a bunch of SF:Conversation feats (diplomacy, bluff, intimidate) on a rogue build, foregoing things like Weapon Finesse and having low dexterity and high INT and CHA because you were making a full on negotiator than you can optimize that, but expecting it to be a powerhouse combatant is probably a bit much.
