Whirling Dervish / Wilderness Stalker build
Got the urge to see what I could do mixing Whirling Dervish and Wilderness Stalker today and this is what I came up with. Unfortunately it is pretty tight with feats and skills, so there is not a lot of room for play (basically you can switch out Strongheart Halfling for another +2 DEX race at the cost of Luck of Hero's). However, I have not previously seen a build like this posted when conversations come up about the Wilderness Stalker class so thought some folks might take inspiration from it if they're considering some of our custom PRC options. Feel free to comment if you feel it is flawed or I missed something, but I think it makes fairly good use of the benefits of the two PRC's.

Re: Whirling Dervish / Wilderness Stalker build
Isn't there supposed to be a feat that synergizes Wilderness Stalker with Rogue levels and gives more SA? Swift Ambusher or something like that? Does BG have this feat? If so it is a must on that build

No, Wilderness Stalker simply gains 3d6 Sneak Attack over the course of 10 levels. In this build it only gains 2d6 from WS, 3d6 from WD and 5d6 from Rogue, so 10d6 total sneak attack damage, 5d6 vs. crit immune.Calodan wrote:Isn't there supposed to be a feat that synergizes Wilderness Stalker with Rogue levels and gives more SA? Re: Whirling Dervish / Wilderness Stalker build
Have you considered Crossbow Sniper feats and ranged feats instead of going TWF? With it being a cavestalker/wilderness stalker type maybe it would be more of a hunter style? Just a thought. I have a build that is very similar to this one. Here look it up!
http://nwn2db.com/build/?232008
Very similar only the gray orc build is probably the best tracker IG RP wise....has scent feat so take that with swift tracker on this build and you get a blood hound!

Re: Whirling Dervish / Wilderness Stalker build
I did consider both the Grey Orc Race and the Archery style over TWF. It would work and you could replace the TWF feats with archery feats and Crossbow sniper feats to suit the build. Or you could make it a wood elf, drop LoH and make a longbow character, which would allow you to get Oneshot.
It's honestly just a concept I build because it seemed interesting to mix WD and WS to have a decent amount of offense and defense to the build. Would have liked to get WS to at least 8 for the extra AC, but couldn't justify giving up 2/day ethereal jaunt and epic dodge by taking WD down to 7, nor could I justify losing Epic Precision by reducing Rogue levels (and obviously it would just be silly to lose HiPS from SD).
Basically wanted to show WD and WS have a good amount of synergy since the Skill Focus from WD gives higher skills for your tracker build. It would work with your Grey Orc, if you cared to replace Assassin with SD/WD levels and would have better stealth, loosing a bit of sneak dice. However, due to the lower dex it definitely would only work with crossbow sniper.

Oh shite he is right......WD does not grant Improved Evasion on BG. Back to the drawing board!
You could drop LOH and get Improved Evasion where you take Track and put track at the top of your build. Seems to be the only feat you can spare really. Otherwise you can just find another feat in that epic spot instead of Epic Dodge but I assume that was the point yeah?

Hmmmm, yeah I suppose that's another issue with not having a bgtscc specific builder. I'll have to take another look, but I expect the only option is losing LOH which makes any other race a no go.

Unfortunately, Improved Evasion is only available at Rogue 10, 13, 16, 19 so I would have to take 3 more levels of Rogue. However, taking WD down to 7 loses Defensive roll. So basically the only way this works if you want Camouflage (a must for me) and HiPS (also a must) is to increase Rogue to 16, taking Defensive Roll and Improved Evasion... You need 3 SD so you have 11 levels. You can either go WS 7, WD 4 for +1 AB or WS 8, WD 3 for +1 AC... I'll update the build when I get some time, but needless to say it's less impressive IMO with so few levels in WS/WD... You could certainly go without Epic Dodge, but I just don't think anything you get from WS / WD is worth losing such a fantastic defensive feat.Calodan wrote:Oh (#2) he is right......WD does not grant Improved Evasion on BG. Re: Whirling Dervish / Wilderness Stalker build
Build is updated now. It lost Minor Teleportation, 1 AC, 3 Skill Focus Feats and Whirlwind Attack. No loss of AB, critical sense is only +1 instead of +2, but instead of losing BAB at WD 5 and 9 it is only losing BAB at Rogue 13 so it cancels out. It gains 1d6 SA dice by swapping the 6 levels of WD for Rogue as well as some additional skill points to somewhat make up for the loss of the 3 skill focus feats. All in all it's an ok build, but the loss of WD 10 makes it less attractive IMO. The 2/day safety net button is huge for a rogue type which has quite a few weaknesses on this server and the AC is probably going to end up lower than what you could get from a R/A/IB build. Still, for an RP build it has a bunch of skill points to play with, just as any rogue does but Wilderness Stalker gives it a niche that not many will have with swift tracker and camouflage.
So I suppose if you like the Ranger abilities, but perhaps not the spell casting or Ranger RP it's a decent alternative... I looked at replacing WD/SD with Assassin, but it doesn't work if you want Epic Dodge since you need 8 Assassin levels, leaving only 15 for Rogue, 1 short of being able to get Defensive Roll and Improved Evasion. This would have freed up two feats and given more sneak dice, but would have lost skill focus, dash, etc.
Anyone got other idea's for a build that gets great stealth with a minimum of 7 WS levels while still getting HiPS, Epic Precision and Epic Dodge?
