Divine Spell Questions
After much hard work, I finally managed another level yesterday on my Favored Soul. I noticed a bunch of new spells not really talked about in "Spell Changes" or "New Spells", for example Whirlpool and Dry... among quite a few others. One called something like Divine Weapon or some such that made a weapon +8 for one round, with a will save for a +15 enhancement...
So I read as much as I could in the levelup screen, but saw I could only pick a new cantrip. A little research it looks like Favored Souls get to switch a spell every even level after 6 (if I understand it correctly). That would mean I have three Spell changes left before max level (26, 28, 30?).
What spells should I take a closer look at for actual utility? I'm definitely ditching Word of Faith as this is an old character from before the "will save negates" was added. Also thinking of ditching Battletide. I simply don't like the combination of it only being a +1 buff, a movement speed buff, and having a will save for the enemies. Back when it gave an extra attack and +2 bonus, I was fine with it's rather short duration. Now I might as well use haste instead. What would you replace Word of Faith and Battletide with? What other spells are new and exciting for Charisma heavy Favored Souls?

Re: Divine Spell Questions
There is very little value beyond just posting full spell lists 0-9 unless you perhaps can list those spells you either haven't used much (or at all) or have used, but find of questionable value.

Re: Divine Spell Questions
I'm not that much of a rookie. I have the usual Favored Soul self buffing stack. He runs around almost always buffed with extended Light, Magic Vestment (armor and shield), Great Magic Weapon, Aid, Bless, Shield of Faith, Protection from Alignment, Conviction, Freedom of Movement, Deathward, Trueseeing, Spell Resistance, Elemental Immunities, Bull Strength, and Animalistic Power. As needed during combat he uses Divine Power, Stonebody, Prayer, Conviction, Righteous Might, Great Visage of the Diety, etc...chad878262 wrote:There is very little value beyond just posting full spell lists 0-9 unless you perhaps can list those spells you either haven't used much (or at all) or have used, but find of questionable value.

Word of Faith is a 7th level Spell. Battletide is a 5th. These two will be replaced with a 7th and a 5th that have uses. Current 7th are, if I remember: Resurrection, Greater Restoration, Regenerate, Ethreal Jaunt, Blood to Water, and Word of Faith. The 5th level choices are: Raise Dead, Righteous Might, Spell Resistance, True Seeing, Battletide, and either Lesser Spell Mantle or Dispel Wall. Level 8 and 9 spells are set in stone due to swapping mechanics, and I can only do one spell other than Battletide or Word of Faith in the 7 or lower if a custom spell is worth taking.
In short, I'm looking for a 7th Spell and a 5th Spell, and maybe a custom content extra if something is particularly fun.

Re: Divine Spell Questions
This is not even a contest. Dispel wall looks pretty, but is fairly useless while Lesser Spell Mantle can be very useful. If you have Least Mantle it is not absolutely required, but if it is between mantle and dispel, pick mantle every time.Vogar Eol wrote:and either Lesser Spell Mantle or Dispel Wall

Re: Divine Spell Questions
I don't think I'm being clear here. I have a level 25 Favored Soul. He was built years ago, and has both "Battletide" and "Word of Faith" as parts of his very limited Spell selection. This was back when both spells were vanilla in 2009 or 2010, and we all liked to fight Trolls at the Ford or Giants near Naskel.
Today, both those spells are still useful for high DC clerics. For an abysmal DC Favored Soul with high Charisma, they are a waste. He has three spells he can swap before hitting max level at 26, 28, 30. The lists above were just to give an idea of what I already have, so those things are not suggested.
To replace "Word of Faith" I'm deciding between "Call Elementals", "Greater Scrying", or "Mass Spell Resistance". I'm leaning towards Mass SR.
To replace "Battletide" I'm eyeing "Commune", "Scrying", or "Wall of Stone". No idea how useful those are though.
For a possible third swap, I may drop of level 6 Spell for "Word of Recall" or "Gaseous Form".

Re: Divine Spell Questions
Yes, I've been looking over that wiki. Mass SR would certainly make some friends more easily than casting normal SR a half dozen times. As for the practical implications of the other spells... no idea how well they work in game.
In particular I'm very skeptical that "Gaseous Form" is just a knock off of Ethreal Jaunt or a polymorph into an Air Elemental that can still be attacked. Maybe it's an un-targetable air elemental... *shrugs*. I know vanilla spells, not these ones in game now. I don't care to have to RCR either.

They aren't just placeholders in that module?

No, not gaseous form for sure at least ! Tried it a couple of hours ago, can't remember if scrying needs some server side stuff but I think not.

I'm not use to servers letting that much go to a public test module. Much more use to being able to select things, but if you use them your PC crashes in a cloud of smoke and ozone.
