Scorcerer Build help, please.

Possible return to server. Been reading the new active guilds, came up with some ideas and some gear that can be loaned to me or purchases from old friends.

I am not very familiar with with sorcerers (or wizards), tending to play mostly melee types (R/F/WM/FB) or bards (my old epic bard was a water genasi that was searching the region to find his lost love after a ship wreck). I need a character not reliant on old caster level umd wand/ scroll/ item use, since I have also read about it being fixed.

Can someone recommend build tips or actual builds for me, thank you.

Idea is a human/ dwarf EDM sorcerer/ EK/ cleric/ dragonslayer(?) gish that uses his arcane and melee abilities to fight The Church of the God-King of Water Elementals, Istishia or The Temple of the Great Blizard, Auril and/ or be a Cultist of Tiamat.

To include:

Mithral Plate w/bonus Sorc Spell (still spell?) and Heavy Mithral Shield (0 asf) use
EDM, I have multiple Cha+3 item choices (one neck includes Extra Turning Feat), unless a +4 Cha item is readily available from the new epic shops.
Martial or maybe Exotic (DWaraxe) use, as can have those with various properties or bonus spells.
New Items I unknowingly should seek to purchase that are desired from epic store

Could also be robes and light shield (0 asf) use for a different version.

Lol but on a seriousness what i would do is Socerer/ EK/ Cleric (If you evil aligned do Black Guard)/ Dragon Slayer you want to make sure you take High BAB classes so that your AB evens out at later levels from taking Sorc if you want any chance of being good at melee.

Don't mind the Skills and the domains. i edited the build from the formula of another one of my builds. The domains depend on the deity you choose and the skills are pretty self explanatory to what you need but ill let you tinker and mess with it at your leisure.

Another note: Getting EDM and Automatic still spell is for the most part impossible unless you pick a certain race. . .

Hate to break it to you, but gish builds suck. Unless you can somehow fit in HiPS to avoid dispels, you are effectively barred from countless epic areas. Seeing as you are a returning player, you probably aren't aware of the fix to dispel; the spell no longer incorrectly checks against your HD, and now uses your actual CL in order to determine whether you are dispelled or not. And with greater dispel cap bumped by 5 here, you're only safe at around 28-30 CL.

EDM sorcerers suck doubly so because they can't fit in autostill 0-9, which is a huge QoL improvement. As it stands right now, if you wish to roll an arcane gish, you might wanna consider playing a bard instead.

Here is an armored blaster I put together a while back at the request of another player. It's not an EDM/Gish build, but as previously stated they are a bit lackluster (though I wouldn't say they suck). Idea here is an armored blaster, which I think fits with the equipment you indicated you have available. Since DC's are not going to be overly impressive anyway you could theoretically drop spell casting prodigy for medium armor, which would allow you to take an epic spell.

Hi, here is the sorc edm gish I made but probably will never play. He is not a blaster and has low caster level but hits all the feats you'd want with a sorc gish. To play this type of caster requires a slightly different playstyle- don't ever fully buff until you are already in combat with all dispells already expended. Usually you keep up two or three important long term buffs (stoneskin, mirror image, gr heroism) and then cast one short term buff before each battle (haste, imp invis, displacement, stone body, iron body, ethereal visage or tensors), expecting to get dispelled and respond with one powerful short term buff before entering melee again. Other than that you have to rely on real gear to keep ac up.

This playstyle works well once you get it down, you have enough spells to keep rebuffing between rests. The plus side is: Auto still (only to lvl 6, pick verbal spells after lvl 6 like mords and greater shout, or use regular still feat for iron body in full plate), ICE, EDM, divine saves AND expose weakness.

If you want to fix your CL replace the P5 / R3 with Cleric 3, water domain for evasion/EW and pick 2 of your 3 cleric levels on levels where you get a feat so you can get divine might and shield. With Practiced Spellcaster you now have CL30 and are immune to dispel from anything besides mords or breach. Of course if you just go S17/EK10/C3 you will only hit BAB20, so if you really want to be an EDM gish I would recommend something like S14/EK10/C3/DS3. CL will be 29 which is only a 5% chance of greater dispel working per buff and BAB will be 22.
