Re: Koba’s wares at Mudd’s - Baldur’s Gate [28 Mirtul]

Mr. Mudd solemenly apologises all customers interested in wares of Master Koba. Being only a middlemen in trading his goods, he could do nothing upon Koba’s sudden and long absence.

However, now that Master Koba has returned to Baldur’s Gate, his stock is back for sale. To ensure bidders’ certainty, Mr. Mudd negotiated new terms with the merchant. Mr. Mudd declares, not without a distinct note of proudness, if not gloating, that he is now in full control over negotiating the sale of Koba’s assets. He goes further to say that he would not auction the goods anymore, but rather sell to the first bidder who places an offer which is deemed acceptable.

*Mr. Mudd ponders for a while, nodding in silence* Very well. I consider your bid acceptable. The boots are yours as soon as you clear the payment at the bank. Of course, unless you want to negotiate a better price directly with Master Koba *concludes with a slight smirk*

"Hello Mr Mudd, I must apologize I am unsure of the value of most of these items"

"I am interested in replacing this Armour do you think you would swap it and say 10 bags for the shiny Plate you have?"

*after a longer while Mr. Mudd responds* I'm afraid this offer is a little on the low side. I would value your armor at 1,350 gold coins nowadays. And this plate you see on the stall is one Master Koba used until quite recently. Not too many such pieces in the market, too. I'd say you can try to convince me with a higher offer or... try to convince Master Koba in person *says grinning*

*The thickset man frowns briefly before his face regains its broad smile*

" Thanks kindly Mr Mudd I guess my gold coins will have to stay in my pouch for a while longer "

To the astonishment of those gathered around, Mr. Mudd places four pieces of brightly shining armour in the section of goods from Koba. After more than a few inquisitive looks he informs the onlookers:

"Yes, my dear customers - this is mithril. As real as it gets! Lightweight and hard at the same time, letting a practiced warrior to make the most of his defensive capabilities. There is something for everyone, from a nimble fencer to a stout front line soldier. A fine craftmanship close enough to the fabled mithral full plate."

When asked about the source of such a quantity of armour made of so rare material, Mr. Mudd does all he can to evade the question.
