RP Areas: Housing

Unread post by artemitavik »

While I know that setting up an apartment system here and that private citizens do not get to buy housing, which is ok because that could end up with a mass of private areas all over.

However, I would love to see some RP areas that are houses and such, a few in each town, that people could RP "renting" or something, and RP a more long term housing situation. Not everyone has access to guilds with rooms and such, and while living in inns is all convenient, there's no real sense of "permanent" to it.

Right now, the only two "residences" I can find are the two in the East Gate district, one of which has an NPC child in it. I've seen these get a fair amount of traffic for alternate uses from different parties.

If we had a couple like this in the Harbor, and palace district, as well in Beregost, Soubar, Nashkel, Ulgoth's Beard, without NPC, I think it would open up new RP options. People could have parties with friends over, smaller more intimate and private than having dinner with friends at the nearby tavern. Could be places for relaxation with a small group of friends with less fear of people eavesdropping, etc.

Not massive places, really... but a couple rooms, kitchen, etc. Stuff houses would have as appropriate to the area they're in. But without NPCs floating about.

We kinda have that in BG! A bunch of houses can be entered easily.

Only two in the East Gate that I could find. The rest didn't have portals for the doors when they are opened.

And what about the people who don't ICly live in BG?

Player customization housing has a high probability of being in by Q3 2017, with requisites of a new framework needing to be in place first.

Oh, neat. If it's getting added, then that'll be cool. I did player housing for such instances.

When is Q3 to be? I don't know the update cycles and stuff.

I wasn't thinking of a whole framework update though if it's too much hassle, just a couple places like the houses in BG east gate thrown into the rest of the inhabited areas.

There are four quarters in a year.

It borrows logic from another system for DM peaceable persistence but allows players to fulfill their design interests without involving a toolset.

In the meantime Beregost, Baldur's Gate, and Kraak Helzak all have areas like that. Also there are lots of Inns and taverns everywhere. Oh and many guild halls have living quarters.
