Re: Ogre Cave
It's a nice place for mid level but none of them are epic chests so not worth it to keep running through there.
Still it's one of the better spots untill you hit 20+ I think.

Re: Ogre Cave
My personal favorite is to start north of High Moore for 4 free chests. As 9 out of 10 times the boss does not spawn on the three chests he is guarding (4th chest is behind the pyramid). Think only one of the 4 chests is epic though.
Then go straight for serpent temple, after which you move on to the dragons lair south of it.
When you are done take the boat back to Soubar to sell your loot.
If you do not mind a little bit of extra running, you can do the higher lvl troll cave just before going to serpent temple. The boss in there is blind as a bat, so if you don't like fighting him you can just run past him to the two chests he is guarding behind him.

FAI is much better. One run. 50+ chests now since Epics can loot every chest on the server now. Less than 2 hours for 50+ chests too BTW. Yet we complain about one dungeon having 9 of em?
Now I can agree that the UD could use some more for sure. I hate how spread apart they are. How hard each chest is to really find too. There seems to be only one true dungeon that has chests like the surface that is the goblins run. Which is not even epic so the loot still sucks.

No wonder, why surfacers got so much money and epic items.
I agree that the UD needs some help or love or whatever you want to call it. But complain about loot? The UD feels like a straight line full of chests with zero difficulty. A monk in the UD is the best combination for fast and fat loot. Make this a Sacred Fist monk for taking down bosses if you dont mind spending some more time.chad878262 wrote:QFTCalodan wrote:Now I can agree that the UD could use some more for sure. hmmm, I suppose I need to locate this straight line of chests then....Must be running around in the wrong circles.

Its the same line that you do your quests with with many more chests if you go a bit "off the line". Very limited time loss due to weak and scarce mobs.chad878262 wrote:hmmm, I suppose I need to locate this straight line of chests then....Must be running around in the wrong circles.

Re: Ogre Cave
Let me see here. The Crypt was a good one before but the quest is broken so no chests in that really but one could still go to that area since you pass right by it. There are 5 chests in the area where the entrance to the crypt is. Then the goblins area and one could hit up stonefire gobs real quick. So maybe 20 or so chests right in line with the quests a bit yeah. They provide enough to build a decent gold stash if you are not consumable dependent. I think what the original poster is complaining about is the lack of easily loot epic chests or just the mad mad amount the surface gets compared. I don't think it would be needed to add more maybe just bump UD percentages? However I really gave up on better loot at this point. I am tired of beating you QC guys and DMs over the head about it when there is so much more that you can be doing that would really help out the fun here.mrm3ntalist wrote:Its the same line that you do your quests with with many more chests if you go a bit "off the line". While i spent less time farming in the UD, the analogy of epic items i have found compared to farming in the surface is higher.Calodan wrote: I don't think it would be needed to add more maybe just bump UD percentages? There is/was a map of the UD. I edit it and marked all the chests i found in the UD. Doing the quests and hitting the chests, is the most efficient loot run with the added bonus the XP from quests once per week.

Yeah finding UD maps is pretty tough and old threads? You want to search that haystack for that needle for us since you remember what the haystack was called and all?mrm3ntalist wrote:While i spent less time farming in the UD, the analogy of epic items i have found compared to farming in the surface is higher.Calodan wrote: I don't think it would be needed to add more maybe just bump UD percentages? I just did the quests so will try and see what you see but you see things from QC perspective you knows all the stuffs man! Your Meta knowledge is like epic compared to mine of this server...... I am so jelly.

Re: Ogre Cave
Has nothing to do with being QC... It has to do with his time on the server and his exploration thereof... Having been here far less time (but still over 2 years) I am fairly certain that I have not seen at LEAST 25% of the areas of our server and possibly as much as 50% (cuz I don't know what I don't know!
Part of this is I didn't do much with the Underdark until recently and another part is the server is so big, it is easy to get in to a habit of sticking to the 2 or 3 dozen areas you know. However, the biggest part is that you only get to do something for the first time ONCE, so I try to portion control my experience with new areas any more. Because once I've seen them all, it will only be the rare new areas that give that same feeling of exploration. And exploring is one of the things that really makes this PW an awesome experience.
I daresay that M3ntalist and those like him may very well be jealous of us, in the sense that when we hop in game there is a much greater chance for us to experience something for the first time... It may sound silly and most times they just ROFL at the ineptitude, but deep down somewhere, they certainly miss the feeling they got the first time they walked up to each end game boss and got slammed with something they weren't quite prepared for. Or the first time they stumbled in to some out of the way area and found a new dungeon for the first time. It's kind of like how kids are constantly wishing they were grown up while their parents are constantly telling them how much they are going to miss being a kid. Not to compare anyone to children, simply the fact that the grass is always greener on the other side.

Re: Ogre Cave
I must say I played most of my UD time a long time ago, before the duergar compound got enlarged.
During that time I leveled several characters up to level 20 and one to 27. I found maybe... 1 epic item, 3-5 mithral items and a few +3 items. It might be just bad luck, who knows, but I also know that the cheat's variables determine the tier of the loot. Theres a skeleton on a platform within the duergar cave (connected to myconids and mines) which holds 95% of the time 1-2 magic items. On the other hand the well north within the myconid area never had an item for me. Propably the value of some UD chests should be re-evaluated. However thats not the topic.
Now with my two surface characters I already found like 4 epic items in a much shorter time span. It sounds like the opposite of what mrm3ntalist expercienced. Guess thats the randomness in its purest form
.
However, an area that has 9+ chests is way over the top.

Re: Ogre Cave
Many of the dungeons have this. Quite frankly it is fine. There is nothing wrong with it at all. Lets curb the nerfing and removing for a bit shall we? Most of those chest do not drop much past a +2 item with extras or the rare +4 only item. Devs, QC and DM have enough to fix currently and I personally think that going around looking for problems is a bad way to play. Just enjoy the game instead of trying to make it fit your ideals.Nachti wrote:I must say I played most of my UD time a long time ago, before the duergar compound got enlarged.
