In a real world sense yes, but this is a movie/video game/TV type of thief.

Gentleman 1: "Egads! It is ye olde Wirg! That rapscallion has swindled my coin purse!"
Gentleman 2: "Thou have a purse?"
Gentleman 1: "T'is not what I meant, look at what is important. That fiend Wirg has struck again!"
Gentleman 2: "Aye, but he stole thy purse? Did thou get advice on which color matched thy pants from thy wife?"
Gentleman 1: "Were my coin purse not stolen, I would pay a goon to punch thy nose."
Gentleman 2: "Ho ho, purse."
Wirg to Pug: "Iz lat dun?"
Pugratix to a snarky militia man: "Mmmm. Not yet. I will live for hundreds of years and be heralded as one of the greatest forces of destruction on the face of the world. The only thing you can destroy is the outhouse."
