Where to go?

Unread post by Grump »

Pardon if this is the wrong section: I couldn't find anywhere else to post this, so this looks to be the right section!

I've been diddling around a little bit the past couple days, but I can't seem to find out where the roleplay happens. There's hardly anybody in Baldur's Gate (or I haven't been able to find them, at any rate) and the only combat area I've found so far has been the graveyard. I'm wanting to give this server a fair shot but it seems to be somewhat difficult to find much roleplay, or other combat zones for when I can't find any players on at the moment. :(

Have you tried opening up the player scry button? This will show you other players locations as well as a number of stars to indicate level range (1 * for 1-10, 2=11-20, 3=21-30). Some players might hide this information, but most don't. Also, you could open up player chat and send a tell to a couple players or a DM if there is one online. Folks in game will very likely find YOU if you let them know you're new and looking for some RP and to figure out where things are/where to go, etc.

What's your play-time? I've found the graveyard is normally quite active but a lot of the players there aren't too interested in conversation! The kobold ruins (across the bridge south of Baldur's Gate) are also usually occupied and that feels like a place where people adventure more and grind less.

Depending on your class/build and the level you've got to, those ruins may need a group, especially the lower level!

I've not got that far south yet but I hear the main hub for RP is the Friendly Arm Inn.

Try going along the river, to the east, for another manageable area (can be found on the map with the big bridge, immediately on your left when you leave the eastern farmlands).

A lot of RP seems to happen around the Friendly Arm Inn aswell if you can get there.

True quality role-play comes from traveling, not staying still in one place. Experience the world and the random encounters that come from traveling.
