Lag issues

Unread post by Irindel »

Hello.

Since my return to the server last friday(3 days ago), I am having huge lag issues. They appear at a random time after I log in, from a few seconds to half an hour. They make playing completly impossible, and for a message to appear I need to wait 2-3 minutes. I have tried anything I could think of, and it gave no effect:

-disabling firewall
-restarting the router
-using an application that changes my connection route
-ping showed slight abberations, but upon closer inspection it happened exacly when my connection to the router got weaker for a moment (I'm quite far from it).
-using two seperate networks (home network, and mobile internet)
-the ping is perfect even while I am having rubberband issues in game.

I have read the whole thread:
viewtopic.php?f=27&t=52944
And nothing in there helped.
Also I am not experiencing any problems with any other NWN2 servers - they all work perfectly fine.

Edit: Forgot to mention. Relogging fixes it.. for a while.

Any help is appreciated greatly.

Try the Client Extension and type in /mpredict while IG.
For some, it will take care of rubberbanding issues.

If that doesn't work, try to lower all settings IG to see if that helps. If you still have lag issues at the lowest settings, then at least you know its not related to the settings.

Has it gotten even slower today ?
since the last 2 hours i notice a big delay when switching feats on/off (like powerattack) - never noticed that before.

As I said, my ping is good. Also the settings are not an issue as I have been playing on BGTSCC before (and other servers work fine).
I tried it out anyway, it did not give any results.
I have noticed one thing, though. Even when the game lags. It seems that the combat works normaly. There are no stops with information flow about combat, but I can't do anything, nor communicate with anyone.

Not an issue specific to this server.

I have fiddled a bit with my router. After turning off the DMZ feature it appears that the lags happen less frequently. To the point of an average one per hour (Which still forces me to log into the server again).

With this in mind, any ideas what else could cause it localy?

EDIT:
After looking around for a longer time I came to the conclusion that the character on which the lags are is in some way broken. I have had no trouble playing other characters (Yes I did ignore trying other characters before as I did not believe it could be an issue).
I have tested it with my underdark character. No lags straight 5 hours. Right after I relog on the broken surfacer, I get lags after casting spells.
Leaving an area or relogging ceased the lags. I tested it repeadly a few times and it always appeared right after the casting.
After that I logged in on another character on the surface which can cast spells and I had never any trouble with. The same as above did not occour.

As what is going on and why that appears I do not know, but I would appreciate any info. Besides that I think the case is closed. I'm recreating my poor elf lady in hopes she will be not defective.

EDIT2:

The problem persists and I don't have any other ideas. My other caster experienced the same lag.
