Techsmith help

Unread post by dak12attack »

I was toying around with the idea of a techsmith of gond, but I'm unable to come up with a decent build. I'm thinking about a strength based cleric 16/fighter 4/techsmith 10, but I'm not too sure if that'd be decent enough.

Help pls.

Interesting idea with monk, but I don't think I want to go that route.

Something with a warhammer, for certain. (because I have some decent warhammers I'd like to use =X)

I'm not huge into wizards, unfortunately. I can never figure out what spells I need to slot and it ends up being a huge pain for me =/

At least with cleric, I'm okay with just about anything!

I think wizards are better Techsmiths when it comes to buffing the gondsman.
Far more AC and AB buffs then cleric.
More skills.
Hey, I just lost it, And this is crazy, But here's my login, So PM me, maybe?

Wizard generalist would be my suggestion here as well, where you can supplement the damage output with little risk and Jack of all trades the spell book specific to the needs.

What pushes down an arcane Techsmiths of Gond is the requirement of 4th level divine spells. Hence you pretty much need to take 7 levels of cleric or 8 levels of favored soul, which means that at best your arcane caster level will be either 27 or 26.

Now, because Archmage requires 7th level arcane spells, you really cannot combine it with Techsmith of Gond which pretty much leaves you no alternative than making use of Bloodmagus for that +2 caster levels. A character combining blood and steel? Hey, Gond is True Neutral and Bloodmagus only requires you to be nonlawful - so you could easily role-play as some kind of a maverick. (Gond has earth domain so that grants free Toughness feat to boot.)

Thus a Cleric 7/Techsmith of Gond 10/Wizard 6/Bloodmagus 7? Or perhaps Cleric 8/Techsmith of Gond 10/Wizard 6/Bloodmagus 6 to get one extra level 4 cleric spell. You could go for Automatic: Still Spell III and go for a strength based build to make most out of your '3 casts' of Divine Power and Tenser's Transformation.

As a human, it would be quite easy to start out with following ability scores:

Code: Select all

STR: 16
DEX: 10
CON: 10
INT: 16
WIS: 14
CHA: 10
In otherwords, your Gondsman should be buffed with strength increments and it is your primary way of killing things and Concealment from any source should add some general survivability to it. If things look to be going south, you can cast Divine Power or Tenser's Transformation and help out your mechanical wonder.

The only downside to this build... is well... the need to have both 7 levels of cleric, 3 levels of Techsmith, 3 levels of Bloodmagus, and 5 levels of Wizard before by level 20, which means that you can only have 5 levels of Techsmith at level 20...

As for using sorcerer, well your spell book would be focused on gish buffs so in theory it would possible to pull off. Heck, you might even try using some 'Divine Power + Shapechange' schehanigans... But those would be limtied by the short DP duration... And you have less feats to spare...

So yeah, a Wizard would be the best way to go...
