So why can't NPC priests remove cursed items?
I've had the good luck to pick up a cursed book that not only gives me 75% vulnerability to Negative Energy but also weighs 51 lbs which means my poor rogue has to chug potions just to move beyond a hobble. I've come across a few PCs I RP'd it with a little, however no one that can remove curses. Hobbled to a temple - paid 100 gold for a vague option I'm not really sure what it does, but does not remove the curse. This is annoying and more or less curtails my gaming session.

Yeah, that's a real pain in the b...
My toons also suffered a lot during the years......., often there is no one around to help with a curse - so depending on the curse its a real bummer.
(And no, a real hero doesn't talk to any stranger he meets if they help remove a curse
)
Other than that, i really enjoy the cursed items overall.

Sorry to hear Hrafnar... I actually pointed you to the priest cause I thought he'd be able to remove it... that's a real bummer.

Maybe they didn't pray for the spell in their general selection of spells?

Hehe stocking up on raise dead. It's okay I got it removed and it led to some RP etc. I feel that it could be a better if the NPCs can remove it, as it can be tough to find somebody at certain times.

The High Hedge west of Beregost sells Remove Curse scrolls. Buy a stock of ten, and you only need to find any Bard/Cleric/Paladin/Sorcerer/Wizard to cast it on you. Basically, just go to FAI and talk to almost anyone...Hrafnar wrote:Hehe stocking up on raise dead. Or just get a bit of UMD yourself. All you need to do is beat UMD check of 17 or 19 to use a scroll of Remove Curse.

Re: So why can't NPC priests remove cursed items?
Reasoning behind it is to encourage players to look for other players to remove their curse...You know...RP with others!
That said, it can be very annoying and once high enough level, most everyone just removes the curses themselves. However, I recall a couple experiences early in my time on the server where I found a cool RP with a priest, trying to convince them why I was worthy of having a curse removed.
Roll with it and enjoy it, some player will remove it for you and who knows, maybe you'll meet a new RP buddy!

I appreciate that Chad - of course it's good to incetivise RP and it will be simple enough 9 times out of 10 - however in this case it led to 20 mins of my hour and half session being spent hobbling by myself.
