Add new cleric spells...

Unread post by V'rass »

Basically, i find the cleric/druid spell list to be under powered. Wizards/sorcerors get a vastly larger custom spell list while clerics and druids only get maybe 10 such custom spells. The cleric/druid spell list could use some additions and so i have created this post. Here i will list spells which i think would help the class or enhance class rp. I will try to include only spells that are canon and exist inside the various d&d books. Given the number of books that exist i should not run out of options any time soon.

When cast this spell grants the selected weapon 1d6 Fire damage for the duration.

Actually...not really. Power-wise, they're more or less on the same level, and adjusted to complement the strengths and weaknesses of the casting class. Given the fact that, stats-wise, both Clerics and Druids are superior to Wizards and Sorcerers (twice the HP, more BAB, better saves, armored casting, better weapon proficiencies...), that "more or less" is justified.

That is true, but while variety is certainly a good point, power level is not. For instance, an Evocation Cleric can destroy armies with ease using his spell book, as well as having some of the best defense available in NWN2.

Very interesting initiative.

Looking forward to reading them!

PS: I highly recommend against adding spells to improve melee performances, such as the Flame of Faith instance above. Obvious balance reasons.

Outside the evocation school, I think clerics could use more "caster" spells. Is any other school viable for a caster cleric?

Necromancy, but nowhere near Evocation.

That's what I mean with "variety", and not "power": an Evo Cleric isn't second to any other caster, power-wise.
