Major Lag with Only 20 Online
Logged in today for a bit but it was almost unplayable. I checked with another player that it wasn't just on my end. Only 20 online and usually the game plays smooth for me at this time. I wonder if we're experiencing a bit of bloat with the 9 hour resets?

I noticed the same thing last night. 15 seconds for text to appear. This was right after a crash at the 8 hour mark.
Wirg to Pug: "Iz lat dun?"
Pugratix to a snarky militia man: "Mmmm. Not yet. I will live for hundreds of years and be heralded as one of the greatest forces of destruction on the face of the world. The only thing you can destroy is the outhouse."

Yup there was a very laggy period last night. Almost thought the server had crashed a few times but it was just massive delay.Flasmix wrote:I noticed the same thing last night. 15 seconds for text to appear. This was right after a crash at the 8 hour mark.

I'll add my list to the names of folks who are experiencing instability on the server.
Thought it was the new Nvidia update, but I rolled that back and I'm still having issues. Alas!

Lag will happen. It's usually a result of DMs doing stuff (or a result of stuff DMs have done). Length of time between resets doesn't increase or decrease the chance of this happening.

Random thought, but I remember some time ago, that there were potentially problems when people had stuff in their override folder that was NOT for BGTSCC.
Is this still true? Could it be causing problems?

I was under the impression that merchant inventories created lag as they acquired sold items, though I'm basing that on NWN1 experience. I also find ignored or missed loot bags quite frequently, which could add up over time.Endelyon wrote:Lag will happen. It's usually a result of DMs doing stuff (or a result of stuff DMs have done). Lag with only 20 people seems odd...

Re: Major Lag with Only 20 Online
Hi, all -- new to the server. I'm guilty of this, although I cleaned out my Override folder last night before logging in. I hope I didn't contribute to this. I've been experiencing some long load times, but no lag issues when interacting or typing. I've been looking into the Nvidia updates as a possible culprit, and I'm glad that's been more-or-less ruled out.Wandering_Woodsman wrote:Random thought, but I remember some time ago, that there were potentially problems when people had stuff in their override folder that was NOT for BGTSCC.

That said, should the Override folder have anything in it? I don't want to be contributing to problems by not having the appropriate files needed...
Thanks, and sorry for the n00b question -- just trying to be a responsible player!

Re: Major Lag with Only 20 Online
Hi DeepFriedMoose, we've disabled overrides for players, so you should be OK. Just be aware that if you use an override for your character that gives them a haircut or head model that we don't have on the server, the other players will see them as bald or as a default head.
Regarding the lag, that's largely an Internet issue. I could check with our host about improving our Internet connection/speed, but I'll need to talk to the tech wizards first to get a feel for whether or not that would help with NWN2 lag, or if it's just going to happen for some people.

Re: Major Lag with Only 20 Online
Pinging the server clears network vs nwn2server responsive differences, the latter forming from nwn2server being overburdened with process actions, hefty scripts, large scale combat involvement, etc.

Re: Major Lag with Only 20 Online
Server just now went from running smooth, to a complete crawl. 20 players online. Minutes delay for actions to take effect.
EDIT: Lasted maybe 5-10 min, then everything caught up and is running smooth again...
