Dragon Slayer PRC
I just read in a topic about Dragon Warrior and decided to check the other dragon class out.
From the looks of it it seems pretty damn strong with 10hp/level, high BAB, high Fort and Will saves, immunity to fear, the energy resistances and half spell progression evenplus a few minor extras.
Is it as good as it sounds?

Yes. But with only 5/10 spell progression, you'll have to make some sacrifices.

Re: Dragon Slayer PRC
Yes it is a good PRC. Even better against dragons with a magical damage bonus added for every level of DS as well! So at level 10 you get +10 damage to dragons! Multiplies on Crit if I remember correctly.....

Re: Dragon Slayer PRC
I know there are spells that get more powerful with each "Draconic heritage feat" or something but I don't know if Dragon Slayer or Dragon Warrior have any. If they do it could potentially make the classes really powerful.

It already is really powerful. 3 level dips for tumble, martial weapon, heavy armour and shield prof. Can be useful for arcane (str gish, armoured, 9 levels), or for divine (get improved defences for no loss to caster level). Probably more, but this class gets plenty.Laughingman wrote:... it could potentially make the classes really powerful.

I didn't say it wasn't a good class. I was just trying to point out that this makes it many much more gooder. Not sure if there is a defined point where something goes from powerful to really powerful as I am pretty sure it is subjective and doesn't require anyone to correct as if the statement was a falsehood.AC81 wrote:It already is really powerful. 3 level dips for tumble, martial weapon, heavy armour and shield prof. I guess what I meant is whether we call something powerful, really powerful or super duper awesome is kinda irrelevant. No class that you would call powerful would be in line for any kind of further power increase. That was all I meant - this class doesn't need any further help.
Not true ... I just make lowly fighters. They are the whipping boys of the server.AC81's toons are powerful. with his gear they are really powerful. there is your line.

Says nope? Meaning what?
If you mean to use that build to try to prove that Dragonslayer is somehow underpowered you would be wrong. That is a poor class split. It only lets you max CL at 25. However, when dispel isn't an issue you still have the powerful divine spellbook at your disposal plus the prc class perks. Dispels not withstanding it should still be a strong build.

Re: Dragon Slayer PRC
I so wish there was an alternative to the Dragonslayer PrC. I find myself always using it in melee caster builds because it offers so much.
A Spellsword like PrC for non-Elves would be a nice alternative!! Hi Valefort!!

Eldritch Knight, Bladesinger (okay it's elven only) and Dragonslayer all very melee caster oriented plus the roguish caster types... I think we got plenty in that department, wouldn't you agree?Steve wrote:I so wish there was an alternative to the Dragonslayer PrC. Re: Dragon Slayer PRC
Nope, don't agree!
Eldritch Knight is tired. Bladesinger, like you state and I hinted at, is just for Elves (also tired!
). And that leaves Dragonslayer, which like I wrote, becomes the default powerhouse melee-caster PrC (whether you like the RP of the PrC or not).
