Herran sees the notice and sighs loudly

If this had happened sooner ... mayhaps I would -not- have been disavowed ... I tried to tell -many- times of their ... shakes his head and walks off not finishing his thoughts

Word swiftly travels that Khazark Kahanak Habdilof brought a drow war-band to the slope of Candlekeep and demanded Amenthes Serb, a permitted guest of the library fortress. When told that the man still had a day left of his allowed stay, the Thayan leader promised that he would return again - and then ordered his drow mercenaries to attack random travelers upon The Lion's Way.

Members of Candlekeep and others assisted a halfling who was soon targeted by the drow, and all six of the creatures were defeated in battle. The Khazark fled the scene and reportedly teleported elsewhere a short time later.

An open letter is delivered to Candlekeep

To those members of Candlekeep who fought the Khazark Kahanak Habildof and his drow allies on the Lion's Way,

I thank you for taking a stand, inspired by Herran Hymn, and deciding that ambivalence to tyranny and torture, and those who practice it, is not neutrality. You have done a good thing in drawing such a line, and it is even more noble as you may well have all effectively tendered your resignation from the holy place which you serve.

That is, of course, unless the policy has changed as a whole! In which case I am sure you eagerly anticipate Herran's reinstatement, as I do.

Mercy Bless,
Brother Ameris Santraeger
Vadim Morozov, Dreadmaster.

Word spreads from the library fortress that Ulraunt, Keeper of the Tomes, made a rare public appearance to denounce the threat upon Candlekeep and the attack made against a halfling traveler on the approach to the famed bastion of knowledge.

By his superior decree, the permanent banishment of Kahanak Habdilof remains in effect unless the Keeper of the Tomes himself chooses to lift it. Furthermore, all visiting members of the Thayan Enclave are subject to mandatory supervision and escort while Ulraunt further deliberates upon the matter.

Guide Keenan
Archivist Ingenium
Protector Dunn
Acolyte Blazic
Ms Alison Keenan
Gunthar
Fenix Wandersoul
Amenthes Serb
Bran
Msciwoj
Hinzel
Sirion Te'dwa
One other

Summary:
Bran and Msc attacked Amenthes and Protector Dunn. Killed them both, and took Amenthes' body.

Details:
I had just sat down to a bourbon and to listen to Ms Iris Sorin play her lute in the Friendly Arm Inn when I received a sending4 from Protector Dunn. It said that Bran was threatening Amenthes on the Lion's Way, and he was trying to diffuse the situation.

I hurried to the Lion's Way and found them in the Druid Circle. Bran told me to "call off my assassin", that they were after "the Thayan". Protector Dunn said that he was simply trying to make sure that a traveler to Candlekeep made it safely. I asked if there was any way to end this without bloodshed. But then Bran attacked Amenthes.

The fight was a bit long, with Protector Dunn dipping in and out of shadows. Not having many spells left for the day, and being unwarded, I simply went invisible. The person I don't know fell fast. Amenthes soon after. Protector Dunn kept doing his disappearing act, until finally he was hit with a Finger of Death.

Bran told me to leave. I told him that I was at least going to take the body of Protector Dunn with me. He growled, but agreed. I took Protestor Dunn's corpse into Candlekeep, where I saw Guide Keenan at the gates. I told her that Bran had Amenthes' body, and she ran out into the Lion's Way.

I took Protector Dunn to the Temple, where he was resurrected. I explained the situation to him, and he told me to see to the Guide. I left the temple to see Guide Keenan just inside our gates. She had me sending4 Rania Arowaven that Amenthes needed her, that he had been taken.

The Guide said that Fenix was on his way, as well as Hinzel. She had something that she could scry Bran with. I received a response from Rania, asking where they were. I then cast sending4 again, telling her to come to the keep, that we were gathering people to find them.

We stepped outside the gate to see that Hinzel had arrived. I cast another sending4 to Sirion, asking him to come help. Fenix then arrived at the gate. Shortly after, Ms Alison Keenan showed up with Gunthar, and Acolyte Blazic.

I then received word back from Sirion that he was on his way, though he was uncertain if he could help. Meanwhile, Guide Keenan explained the situation to those gathered. Sirion showed up, and I explained the situation to him. Rania then walked up. While we were talking, Fenix left to find out what he could.

Rania seemed very disinterested, considering that she was the one appointed to lead Amenthes onto the path of good. Hinzel then left, seeing what he could find out. Rania finally cast sending4 to Bran, asking him to release Serb once she found out that one of Candlekeep had also been attacked.

Rania then relayed a message that Amenthes was being released. The caveat was that Protector Dunn was to stay away from them. At that time, Sirion relayed a message from Hinzel, asking if we wanted Bran and Msciwoj killed.

At that point, I chided Acolyte Blazic for trying to get something for doing what he should do. We had a brief, but intense conversation where I reminded him that as a part of the keep, he should seek to help the keep without reward. I am uncertain at this time whether I will bring the conversation to Guide Keenan and recommend his removal.

When I returned my attention to everyone else, only Guide Keenan and Rania had remained of the group. Rania was attempting to find out where Amenthes was going to be released. She said that they didn't care about his atonement, saying that he could never atone for what he'd done.

//Then I had to take a supper break. Watched SuperGirl with my daughters. In Season 2. It was ok, but predictable.//

I had some personal matters to attend to. I returned to check on Protector Dunn, only to learn that everyone had gone to the Friendly Arm. I set out there immediately.

There was a gathering of many people, with many voices. Most of which the conversation did not concern them, yet that did not stop them from adding their opinion. Especially vocal and intentionally disruptive was Cosimo Delucca, who kept trying to cause confrontation.

With all the bystanders butting in, Amenthes suggested that they take the meeting to a more private location. Bran responded that everything was settled. Protector Dunn had died, as payment for Bran's kin. Amenthes had died, and had been brought back. Bran then left.

The sorcerer and word-torturer known as Cosimo Delucca can be seen ambling up to the gates of Candlekeep and sitting on the bench. With him are a trio that could be recognised as Rania Arowaven, Isa, and Thevor Stanov, to those that know them.

Cosimo reads the notice by the gate, and copies its contents, and that of the report attached, into his journal. He appears to be taking a verbatim copy, and double underlines something near the bottom of his transcript, grinning. This appears to have been the purpose of his visit, as he then departs with his travel companion.
Cosimo Delucca, Waterdeep Office Chamberlain of House Darius - "I need to think. Got any wine?"

A box is delivered to Candlekeep by two ladies, one with medium brown hair and the other a redhead. They would both state themselves as Tellae Ranloss and Ronja Leonhart, both greeting everyone on their way with a bright smile. Miss Tellae being unusually giggly and nearly bouncing her way through town. It is mentioned that it is an invitation from a miss Vala Reyer and a mister Michael Dunn. A flyer is also handed over together with the invitation.

Silently, Taeghen berated himself for thoughts that would usually fester in the minds of
normal people. Yet he raised his chin in a gesture of defiance. He then circled around the keep
slowly, his free hand caressing the smooth stone as he stayed near the wall. He stopped abruptly and
looked up, gauging the height of a window above. He kept quiet for a moment longer, giving pause to
his actions. The fear would not stop him however.

Before long he took to his plan, the item clenched in his other hand took flight as he
tossed the first stone. Indeed, it was nothing more than a stone - One to garner the attention of
the person whose window he had cast it upon. He stared up to see if the Guide of Candlekeep
had noticed. He didn't even truly know if she was there. He pushed the thought aside quickly
and focused on the vision before him. No matter the consequences he threw another stone, a
nervous chuckle at the sight of a nearby guard. Though he was undeterred, tossing yet another
stone.
