Should I add linked accounts?

As a moderator, I do not think that we should see the linked accounts either.

This should be reserved for the Lead Moderator, HDMs and Global Admin to help determine linked accounts for violators of the server rules.

Hate to be the downer, but anyone else having access to the information might cause a leak. We have had former DMs posting sensitive things, and of course players of friends of those DMs... I still remember that PM with the info.

Keeping the list of people who have access to the knowledge as small as possible with help with unintentional metagaming.

Some people like to hide their identity from DMs/Mods using different IPs, so I guess somes would vote no.

Already, DMs and Admins can see forum accounts based on IP...so some Players who think they're being sneaky, are actually not hidden. You have to go the extra mile to really remain anonymous on the Forum.

There's no way (or intention, for that matter) this could be forced. You have the option to link your accounts. It's voluntary and only visible to yourself, or perhaps also to HDMs / admins, but I don't know that (yet).

If it would be visible to everybody, I don't really see the use, as you could just use one account then anyway.

That has nothing to do with Forums Aaron, all you have to do is login to your different account you created in game. The PC's you can select are based on your login info and CD Keys for the game, not based on anything to do with Forum ID's.

Yes, possibly changed. In the past, all full DMs had the ability to view IPs for user accounts, but not ADMs.

It was basically those with moderator rights. ADMs didn't have that back then exept on a few distinc forums, and DMs had them.

At the moment DMs cannot view IP information. Though it is true that they used to be able to do IP comparisons over the forums.

Forum admins are still able to do this, which is a category that includes the Head DMs. And the forum moderators are also able to do this. But the group of people who are able to do this has been dramatically cut down, mostly because it's not really needed except to check if someone's trying to bypass a forum ban.

Yes, but make the linking optional. Probably would have to be anyways. Sounds good for many uses!

At the moment DMs cannot view IP information.

For the record, this isn't a good idea, considering DMs may want to determine who posts IC things from their alt accounts and what not.

Not to mention it is important for crossover offender registering: Often, the ones who are offenders in-game are also offenders on the forums. Another good reason to let the DM team do the job they always did in the past and have the admin group be an extension of that. This is one game. What happens in one part of the game affects the other part.
