Otherworldy leap question

Unread post by Argumantive »

Is the spell working as intended? The range on is is extremely short (25% of the attack invocation spell). I thought it would work in a manner similiar to dimension door, can someone clarify if it's a bug or a feature?

Question - besides range will it be actually working like dimension door allowing someone to teleport over for example fallen bridge? Or part "You must be able to normally reach the selected destination" will remain making warlocks pretty much never consider this for their Dark invocation slot?

Tested it today in Vault, and where dimension door worked transporting someone to higher ground level Leap just informs that "Location normally not accessible" or something like this.

As I was worried - Long range leap is cool and all but there is still a problem of
"Location not directly reachable"

For example when trying with Dimension Door it is very possible to teleport like on below screen:

While with Leap it gives you an error message "Location not directly reachable". Is it intended or a bug?

Edit: Further tests show it is still possible but requires some luck and good positioning. Not sure what causes that error.

Basically, sometimes the game thinks your character is somewhere different than where you see it on your screen. This was happening with Ki Step too but we added a contingency so that it wouldn't go on cooldown as long as your destination wasn't reached. We should probably add a similar contingency to this spell's script as well so that if it fails to reach the destination you can immediately try to use it again if you want.

Yup its not perfect solution but its something. Would surely help.

One more question - is double casting intended? I've noticed it tries to cast the spell twice in my log - before and after teleportation. That second cast makes it so you cannot immediately move.

That definitely doesn't seem normal, no. I'll have to try it out in-game later on to see what you mean, I've not seen that behavior with any spell before.

Here is what I meant:

It lagged a bit at the time but without lags effect is the same (cannot move after teleporting and casting message shows is log multiple time on single cast)

Ah yeah, Ki Step used to do that too before I changed it. It's because of an animation that plays after the movement happens. I can make the same change to Otherworldly Leap so it's more usable.
