Merchant League Dues

This quest is totally FUBAR'd. I know there was an attempt to fix it—or at least extend the duration to pick up and complete—but it's completely broken. To help with diagnostics and hope we may one day see a fix, here's what I have going:

ATTEMPT #1: I originally picked up the quest back in Jan/Feb of this year. This is when players could only grab it on first day of in-game month, before the changes from latest early-June update. I successfully picked up the dues in Beregost, but then when I tried to turn in quest to Elad (in Merchant's League building in BG) he would not acknowledge quest completion. I did all of this on first day of in-game month. With the quest incomplete, it remained in my log; I've tried turning it in on the first day of subsequent in-game months, but again Elad would not acknowledge I had the dues.

ATTEMPT #2: With the changes implemented from yesterday's reset, I returned to the Merchant League and tried to turn in the dues to Elad. Not surprising by this point, he would not acknowledge I had completed the first part of the quest. However, he did offer me the quest again. I accepted, and at that point I had two active Merchant League Dues quests active in my journal. I traveled to Beregost and successfully collected the dues. But when I returned to Elad and tried to turn in the quest, can you guess what happened?...

ATTEMPT #3: ...Yeah, so I now have three Merchant League Dues quests active in my journal. I think I'm done with this one for awhile.

Hope this helps with diagnostics. Might be best to just disable the darn thing until a fix can be implemented.

I recall not being able to turn it in as well, a while ago.

If it is fixed, IMO, it should just be on the same timer as every other quest. Why have different timers? it makes it confusing and the IG time doesn't reflect the 1:1 time ratio we have.


There's also something about that if you pick up the Stolen Goods quest, you can't ask for the Dues quest, at least I recall it being that way.

3 journal entries are correct because you can collect 3 separate dues from 3 different NPC around Beregost. The problem after the storage was introduced to the quest NPC, was that you weren't able to return these anymore.

Also the Good are gone quest somehow interferes with the dues. Such as if you have the Goods open or have finished it and it's in your journal, you won't be offered the dues even if it's the correct day.

Addition: At least it should be different NPC. By the time I realized there was more then 1 set of dues to collect, also came the storage update and couldn't return them anymore. One of my toons did pick the quest twice and did end up talking to 2 different NPC.

Checked today. Possible to get three Merchant league entries but they all have slightly different text.

The first one indicates Feldepost by name in the text and there's NPC called Samuel Feldepost III inside the inn from whom you collect the dues.

The next journal entry has text:
"Travel to Beregost and pickup the Merchant League membership dues from the another guy at the Risen Phoenix Inn."

This was Gram Boardman inside the inn.

The last journal entry has text:
"Travel to Beregost and pickup the Merchant League membership dues from the Risen Phoenix Inn."

This was Jessie Gardener near the fountain in Beregost, not inside the inn.

I successfully collected all dues. All entries have the text:

"Return the dues to Elad in the Merchant League building. It is located in the Southeast District of the city of Baldur's Gate."

Just as a note, it's in the Harbour district currently.

Speaking to Elad gives 3 options:
Well met my good madam, what brings you to the Merchant League this fine day?
1. Oh, no thank you. I was just stopping in. Good bye. > end conversation
2. Do you sell anything here? > offers options for banners, store page, end conversation
3. I have some valuable goods I need kept safe. Do you offer storage services, here? > storage options

No option to return the dues.

I have finished "The goods are gone" quest earlier so this might also be interfering.

And after conversation with Valefort, I do remember having an item called something like "old quest item something" before but have not received such since storage came and totally forgot all about it. Likely culprit.

Yeah that was the culprit, those items got lost in the void at one point in the distant past. Recreated and should work next update.

I discovered this quest earlier today and made my way to Beregost. I'm supposed to talk to someone at the Risen Phoenix Inn to collect the merchant dues. However, none of the NPCs seem to activate the quest though I've spoken to every one I can find.

Do you have just one set of dues (one journal entry) out of the three? There's one more NPC in town for the dues that is not inside the inn.

Addition: I was able to find and return all 3.

That's odd, because this wasn't the case for me. My character initiated the quest on the in-game 2nd day of the month, picked up the dues from the farmer on south side of Feldpost's inn, then turned dues back into Elad at the Merchant League on same day.

I deliberately tried to talk to Elad again, because I'd read on this post that there may be up to three NPC's you can speak with. But Elad would not give me any further quests.

So the quest seems to be working fine for me. Seems Theodore01 had a different experience.
