lightcrossbow VS. heavycrossbow
I have been thinking about an unconventional master crossbow sniper build with epic dodge.
http://nwn2db.com/build/?268420
Honestly, I am less concerned about HIPS (since apparently you need ridiculously high numbers in stealth skills to make full use of it) as I am of getting uncanny dodge, evasion, and epic dodge from shadowdancer.
Is there a real difference between the weapons (rate of fire, availability...etc)
Other critique is appreciated as well.
Thanks.

Epic dodge requires imp.evasion
and get some STR to carry your bolts
(Crossbows often have the mighty feat)

Ooh. so strength is important for carrying bolts...I did not know that mighty comes on crossbow. Cool.

similar to the 5e Crossbow master before it was reworded/clarified. How do you load crossbows if you are holding one in either hand?

And to answer the OC, the only differences between light & heavy xbows in NWN2 are their weight (4lbs vs 10lbs) and their damage (1d8 vs 1d10). I think there is a very good heavy crossbow that has Rapid Reload, Rapid Shot and bonus critical damage. I can't remember what it was called, though. Maybe one of the chronic hoarders has a few of the epic ones they can share here for you to see what is out there?

I think it's a light crossbow, maybe it has also heavy version. But Rapid Shot as an item bonus feat is not so necessary. Because Manyshot has such a great boost for crossbow snipers that you can not give it up.Tsidkenu wrote:And to answer the OC, the only differences between light & heavy xbows in NWN2 are their weight (4lbs vs 10lbs) and their damage (1d8 vs 1d10). You can always buy good crossbows from Roaringshore, both light & heavy. The best is +3AB, Rapid Reload, Unlimited Ammo +3, and Mighty +4. I'd prefer heavy crossbow because there's another good heavy crossbow Longshot as +3EB, Rapid Reload and +2d6 sneak attack. Rare but not too rare in game, a substantial choice.
And the real rare crossbow Arbalist +3 is also heavy. I'm looking for it for a long time but seems it didn not appear since last summer.

Gnomish heavy crossbow has +1 or +2 either or. Rapid Reload. And another stat... can't remember exactly.
