Upperdark corpses
Could we have a change to these loot spawns in the upperdark?
The density of corpses there are causing all manner of farming, even impairing them as roleplay areas. (Particularly in Kro's Labyrinth and descent) Implementing chests instead, where everyone can have a dip is so much the fairer.

Re: Upperdark corpses
The fact that corpses drop better loot than chests, too.. is that intentional?
If anything, it seems like those roles should be reversed. Chest loot (IMO) is pretty weak these days, whereas corpse loot is generally fairly decent. A lot of merchant fodder/weird combos, but still it is always more fun and interesting to rummage a dead body than it is to open a locked chest and that seems off.
Being so much better loot-wise, people will run right past you to loot them, looking like a man on the way to the convenience store rather than one stumbling across a dead body.

Pretty sure this is still against the rules.Planehopper wrote:people will run right past you to loot them

Re: Upperdark corpses
It probably is, but nearly unenforceable unless someone is running video.
As a test, just sit and RP up near the hilltop ruins sometime. It is amazing how many people run up the hill, check the corpse, and run back down without saying anything.
Hard to screen shot that in a meaningful way, and I'd rather not bother the DMs with it.
My personal preference - keep corpse and chest loot the same, treat corpses as chests are treated now (1 per reset, everyone has a shot). The incentive to loot corpses over and over is the problem, I think.

Re: Upperdark corpses
The visual of the corpse is better in many cases, yes.
The mechanics of the corpse is not as good because, like chests, they can get stuck open due to moments of lag. Closing them needs the same routine of moving up to them and stepping back at the right moment, but the lack of animation on the corpse makes it hard to tell if it may be stuck open.
It is the rate at which corpses can be looted that gives the real issue. Containers limited to once per reset per character is the better way, surely?

Re: Upperdark corpses
Just make bones, crates, corpses,..... also lootable once per each char. and reset. Issue solved.

Re: Upperdark corpses
I'm not in Kro's areas to RP. I'm there to grind. ONce I'm done, I'm out, leaving the skeletons to spawn crap for others which is perfect.
You freeking kill the white dragon and get a Dirty mug and rags. Can't even be bothered to clean the mug and put some clean clothes in the chest its guarding.
And actually, "farming" that area brought me and some people I grinded with a lot of RP and PvP, even some rivalry RP and so on.
Grinding and gaining levels were FUN for the first time in my time on the Server. Made it feel like it was worth the time spent there. Now, it'S back to just doing weekly quest, be bored as hell while doing it.

Like everything it will get nerfed. It is getting sad really. For some reason too many people like the idea of work with a effing video game. For the life of me I will never understand.

Re: Upperdark corpses
If i run past a person i dont know and dont have any logical reason to speak with then yeah i will not be stopping for them aside from maybe a nod and a wave. If however they then initiate interaction with me then i will stop and see what they want. And i try hard to avoid any dungeons which are currently occupied in general. Easier that way.As a test, just sit and RP up near the hilltop ruins sometime. It is amazing how many people run up the hill, check the corpse, and run back down without saying anything.

Re: Upperdark corpses
Yeah, and you have, but if that fits your RP thats cool and no hard feelings. I will never be RP police. When multiple people come running full speed up to a corpse near or through your RP though, only to run away again, it's a little silly. My character is definitley within fair play to question motives, sanity, and intent in those cases.V'rass wrote:If i run past a person i dont know and dont have any logical reason to speak with then yeah i will not be stopping for them aside from maybe a nod and a wave. Re: Upperdark corpses
Hi guys.
Well, players wanted more loot down there, so I added it. Imo, bones are nice because of the respawn. They make the grind that much more satisfying...especially when you're down there for several hours. I can understand your issues with RP or not seeing it as fair since you need to wait for loot, or because you may encounter players who are more focused on the grind than RP. If these are an issue, then there are other areas to explore and grind/RP in.
Atm, I have no intention of modifying the loot (except for the chest opening issue and check out the bone/chest loot ratio). If another Dev/DM advises differently, or if the majority votes otherwise, I'll tweak it. But for now, I think it's fine as is.
Let me know. If there really is an issue here, I will change it, np.

Re: Upperdark corpses
The issue is not the areas. On the contrary; the areas are great and add so much variety!
Certain players have been grinding for hours on end, hogging the areas and loot. (you know who you are!) While it's not exactly against the rules, there is a mention made about camping loot-spawns:
It really seems to be an issue of sportsmanship and fair play.

In addition, no meta-game looting. This includes camping at a treasure chest location waiting for resets, locating a character at chests and logging in and out every so often to loot them, etc. players may not use invisibility, stealth, or any other means of avoiding detection in order to loot chests and drops in a dungeon already occupied by anyone else. It is the responsibility of the hidden looter to ensure they do not jump ahead of others working their way through a dungeon.

Re: Upperdark corpses
I think you miss the meaning of this rule. It means you must be on the move. No camping the chests and corpses IG. That means sitting at one place and just checking the spawn every 15 minutes or whatever the reset rate is. Long as a player is actively moving through the dungeon they are welcome to keep moving in a circle as long as they wish or a larger party either moves them out with valid RP or they join up with valid RP.Sputnik wrote:The issue is not the areas. You will find me a cordial enough grinder in any area. One need only to RP with me what is going on with our PC and or send a tell to me. I am fully aware that I live on this server and often in areas when I am on grinding away. I will most often just move aside and let the other player(s) have funz too. After all the loot corpses spawn infinitely.........

Re: Upperdark corpses
Eh, my only issue with Kro's Labyrinth is how the spiders there ignore Ethereal Jaunt so after you've spent your turnings, there is no way for one to not kill spiders.
