The proposed addition/modification of gemstone loot drops seeks to add another ~30 gem types, as well as 3 different grades (and therefore value) of gemstones: uncut, cut and set gems. Cut gems will have item values within the relevant value range as outlined in Volo’s Guide. Uncut gems will be 1/10 the value of cut gemstones; set gemstones, being of set jewellery quality, shall receive a 100% bonus to their value.
There is a possibility of creating a new Jeweller skill in the future to turn Uncut gems into cut gems, and cut gems into set gems, or else add a similar function to the NPC gemsmiths (Barber Zachary & UD gemsmith + others for Soubar/Kraak/Rockrun) to be used as potential gold sinks for upcoming item crafting. Cut & Set Gems from this system can then be utilised in magical item enchanting if required.
Drop rates for the new gems are based on the value listed in Volo’s guide (d% chance), slightly adjusted with the removal of Hardstones & Shells, with the following percentages as approximations. NB: these percentages ought to be adjusted according to the server's current loot drop scripts, whatever they are.
Ornamental Stones: 35% (Abundant)
Semiprecious Stones: 29% (Common)
Fancy Stones: 17.4% (Uncommon)
Precious Stones: 10% (Rare)
Gems: 7.5% (Very Rare)
Jewels: 1% (Legendary)
Epics: 0.1% (Epic)
I am working on a new table that outlines the new additions. It may be necessary to remove certain OC gem types whose base/additional values will become greater/lesser than the gemstones listed in my proposal below, namely: Alexandrite, Amethyst, Beljuril, Bloodstone, Blue Diamond, Canary Diamond, Diamond, Emerald, Fire Opal, Garnet, Jacinth, Malachite, Obsidian, Ruby, Sapphire, Star Sapphire, Topaz. Rogue Stone & King's Tear shall remain DM-only drops unless there is a desire for me to add them to the system (there is enough leftover gem tga files to do so).
I believe AoS has advised Chambordini & Valefort regarding the means by which such a system can be custom-made into a 2da from which blueprint items will be created into the game world's loot system, so if they are willing to work on the scripting, I have almost completed the necessary textual information for their input.
