the descriptor for this knight borders on LE here. not evil in the mustache twirling devious planner, but someone so lawful and selfish in his way of thinking that good or even neutral views that are incorrect need fixed. and the way to fix this type of incorrect thinking can be done swiftly with the edge of a longsword.
am i reading it correctly ironclad?
also would take IKD somewhere, maybe for armored skin. i think the IKD will be more helpful then the single point of ac. but the build looks pretty good.

Ah I forgot to precise it has in fact IKD, it's with the bonus feat from MaA level 5, editing the build.

Jean de Vrailly is evil. I'd suggest Siamorphe as a god as it fits the general requirements.aaron22 wrote:the descriptor for this knight borders on LE here. not evil in the mustache twirling devious planner, but someone so lawful and selfish in his way of thinking that good or even neutral views that are incorrect need fixed. and the way to fix this type of incorrect thinking can be done swiftly with the edge of a longsword.

Else the character could be an unwitting blackguard of one of the agents of Loviatar or Gargauth as they both have a rivalry with Gods of Tyranny and still are lawful. Bane tries to control Lovitar through fear. Blackguard would hit the saves requirement. I have a feeling the OP might have more fun going down this route.

all my builds for this concept in my imagination have BG in it. it fits. and what about the new bane dread knight thingy that is supposed to come out. dont recall where i saw the breakdown for that. that might fit as well. RP side at least.SBlack wrote:Jean de Vrailly is evil. It just depends what you are looking for. The OP indicated he wants sustained damage, which would lead more towards a max STR build rather than a STR/CHA split for EDM. In addition, he doesn't seem to want the more refined/charismatic type of knight. I personally would stay away from Blackguard for such a build and instead would do some mix of AK/WoD and Divine Champion... Frenzied Berzerker is obviously a great choice for any max STR character for sustained damage through Enhanced IPA. While Blackguard dip is great for EDM/Divine Shield that is the definition of burst damage (or short term AC increase). Doesn't seem to be what the OP was looking for.

And imo this concept can easily be an LG person, he seems simply vain and sure of himself to me, not necessarily ill intentioned.Alignment: LG/LN/CG/CN/NG (basically any non-evil and non-true neutral)

Exactly, he is not "evil" in intent or philosophy and in many respects I think of him as like a paladin in that paladins are all about quick painful deaths to evil my guy replaces "evil" in this dogma with "those who violate honour or my code" and he would be very "lawful" in this respect not some despotic thug.Valefort wrote:And imo this concept can easily be an LG person, he seems simply vain and sure of himself to me, not necessarily ill intentioned.
Lots of food for thought so thank you folks I'm still not up to date on the nomenclature of nwn2 so it will take me sometime to work my through this and try them out offline.

Heya, Your character as described earlier is evil. Good goes out of their way to promote goodness for goodness alone and your character is as you said ...maybe 25% committed... So very clearly your character is at best neutral. You will have a lot more fun as evil playing the concept you have in mind. Evil folk can be well intentioned afterall!!!Ironclad wrote:Exactly, he is not "evil" in intent or philosophy and in many respects I think of him as like a paladin in that paladins are all about quick painful deaths to evil my guy replaces "evil" in this dogma with "those who violate honour or my code" and he would be very "lawful" in this respect not some despotic thug.Valefort wrote:And imo this concept can easily be an LG person, he seems simply vain and sure of himself to me, not necessarily ill intentioned.

Appreciate your opinion but I think there is a difference between being a self righteous (hero) (one possible interpretation of my guy) and evil but this thread is more about the build than the quicksand that is alignment debateSBlack wrote: Heya, Your character as described earlier is evil. Re: Looking for a "Knightly" build please see header
The issue is that a Paladin would not really kill another Paladin in a duel to the death, unless one of them had fallen and was being brought to justice, certainly LG would not KILL SOMEONE for such a sleight as not bowing low enough or whatever.Ironclad wrote:When I say "knightly" I don't mean that feminised, Richard Gear, Prince Charming nonsense I mean knightly like stomping some other "knight" in a duel to the death for not making the proper obeisance in their greeting.
Knights like "Big Tom" and "Jean de Vrailly" of the Red Knight novels, big hard, nasty, bastards who will stomp your guts out as soon as piss on you to wake you up for guard duty.
Obviously play what you want, but I steer clear of Paladin as a DM will make you fall if they feel you have acted against the Paladin code in any way. You might be able to pull off LG if you want, but personally I would go Lawful Evil from a mechanical perspective. Anointed Knight or Warrior of Darkness are the best Fighter type PRC's, but you can't pick them unless good or evil. In addition, LE doesn't have to be Muahahaha Evil... It could be a Hoarite who takes doling out justice too far....It could be Siamorphe that punishes those that challenge the rightful rule of nobility... there are many options open for LN deities that would have LE followers.
In any case, your character, your choice, you could certainly go LG for Anointed Knight, I just think it will be difficult to pull off while challenging people to duels to the death.

Re: Looking for a "Knightly" build please see header
me and chad agree. you sound to me like you are lawful to an extent where morality has fallen to a darker place. without the character's knowing. he thinks he is just and good. that he is smiting evil. all the while taking the code that is followed too far. and actually is the evil.
i have a character that is exactly this model. she is tainted somewhat by other factors that draw her further to the darkness, but she is exactly that. she follows a code and everything outside the code is a taint that should be eliminated for the better (in her mind) of the world. she has hid among the good for a while as her brutality to this code doesnt always look evil when fighting evil. but if you RP your character to the fullest. a DM will see it and give you evil points. did for mine. will for you. most of the DM's here are awesome.

Well said... Jack Baur may have been one of the "good guys" but his actions (torture, murder, etc.) were neither Lawful or Good. He would be defined (in my very humble opinion) as Neutral Evil as he followed or broke laws when he felt it necessary, and did what he thought was best, regardless of the morality of the situation or the regulations of how things are supposed to work.

To be rather blunt no one in their right mind is going to take you seriously as a 'good' aligned character. RP will influence you and your characters decisions.
!
Trust me, I'd be very happy to have you rping in the guild I belong to, but your character concept is evil. Just go with it son"the road to hell is paved with good intentions"

I think quite a few of you are going way off topic into irrelevant territory let me remind you of the original premise and stop the bleeding into nonsense
Please refer to the quoted text and specifically the red coloured text (and the underlined text for irony value) as I have to assume some of you are missing what I'm asking for and getting more into the debate on alignment which whilst interesting I'm sure, but its not relevant here except in respect of how it may allow or prevent certain classes.
Making assumptions about potential role play, extrapolating on it and then criticising me on the result is not really cool and this post is about build advice not reductio ad absurdum (like presuming I want to build a paladin even though I have specifically said no to paladin?)
I value all of your input but please keep it relevant to build advice and start a new thread to discuss alignment

Not a paladin because of the RP limitations of being a goody two shoes with everyone desperate to tell you what you can't do.

Your best bet is probably CG or NG so you can take AK.
If you want strong sustained damage you can go:
F12+/WM7/FB5/X3+ (X could be Rogue or Whirling Dervish to grant evasion/expose weakness, Bodyguard for 2d6 sneak dice and speed boost, Divine Champion for saves and feats, or Annointed Knight 4 to open up some key skills (Tumble/Spellcraft) and improve Will saves. Note that this is a similar build to a rogue type. It is high on offense and low on defense so it is recommended you take a 4th class that offers some kind of defensive improvement. Increasing Will saves, in particular is a priority, but eventually you can get gear to help with that as well.
F12/AK10/DC8 - Loads of Feats and fantastic saves. Less damage then above, but seriously, you will have low-to-mid 20's for reflex, high 20's to low 30's for Will and possibly 40 Fortitude. Can still reach decent damage by switching between sword and board vs. two handed and Power Attack/IPA as the situation warrants.
Man at Arms 23/AK4/C (or Blackguard, but requires evil) 3 - High CHA and STR for EDM. Gives up sustained damage for sky high AC (sword and board style). When damage is needed activate DM/EDM for solid divine damage boost.
F12/AK10/WM5/C(or BG) 3 - Maybe not quite what you're looking for, but would be fun. Anointed Knight can give their weapon massive criticals and EDM also crits. So if you were to use a scimitar you could stack AK Massive Crit (which lasts basically until you rest and reapply) with EDM you could really see some major spike damage.
