Jane's caravan returns to Baldur's Gate!

"Today we open a special auction for a client who is willing to part with an Epic Mace of the Cold Rogue. This client claims another person trading the same item turned down an offer of 4000 bags ((4 million gold)), however my client is willing to sell ((coin only)) for that price or better!"

Niorae Yrojja, a merchant from the north, sees the stipulated price and laughs:

"This will be another botched sale like Arkhaine wanting to sell his Mithral Full Plate for a million at least. We all know how long that sale took and how it ended."

A gnome wearing a plumed hat waddled by through Baldur's Gate, and exclaimed loudly.

"Ten thousand bags!"

He then continued his leisurely stroll, towards the south road.

Shea, passing through the Farmlands on her way to the city, quirks a brow as she hears the demanded price.
She ponders a moment, then quirks a brow and eventually addresses Jane.

"So let me get that straight. You claim that an unknown person claims that a second unknown person claimed that a third unknown person bid four million gold on a comparable item - and that's why the first of those other persons tasked you with demanding this sum from any potential customer?"

She pauses to let the sarcastic grin grow.

"How fortunate for the customers that none of those other persons demanded Beregost as payment, hm?
. . .
Hells, "fishy" and "suspicious" do not even get close to an accurate description of how ridiculous this proposed trade is."

She shakes her head and walks off towards the Gate.

"Correct. Client confidentiality is a thing.

This is really a targeted advertisement to the person(s?) who allegedly made the original offer, or anyone else who would match it.

It could very well be that the claims are false, and I won't deny that the price is right for everyone else. I certainly wouldn't pay this kind of price, if it were me, would that I even have that kind of capital...

If someone is able to find or part with such an item for less, congratulations! As for me, I will play my part, merchant or fool, maybe both, and see to this request."

Jane notices a new note left folded at her stall. She rushes to open it excitedly.

As she reads the note, her jaw drops and her eyes widen in shock. After a moment letting the information sink in, she bursts out laughing!

She mutters amusedly to herself, "All this world is a stage, and we are players after all..."
Then she looks past the crowd into the horizon, toward the setting sun. "Well played, sir. Well played, indeed."

Then she turns to address the crowd:
"Ladies and gentlemen, the special auction item is no longer available. Business will resume to casual operations on the morrow!
For now, it is time to retire."
