Level 19 hunting ground for a UD char?

Where is a decent hunting ground for any lvl 19 UD char?

Kro's Labyrinth with Kro is getting low. Ogrhann is low too because of the level difference. Illithid Hive is the same.
Wilds is suicide.
Illithid mines low again.
Duergar compound too high for level difference again.

Hm, I guess I have to kill the ogres over and over again.


Edit: nope is already too low too. Around 24xp is all I get it seems. Probably cannot expect anything higher at this point.

Are you a Drow (i.e. you are level 19, but with ECL are treated as 21)?

The way XP works for kills is very bad once you reach epic levels, which you are at (if the above is accurate, that is). I recently tested Kro's, Trollclaws, Nashkel Mines, Epic Lizard Caves and Ohgrann's and essentially when you go from character level 18-19 (0 ECL) the XP in a given area might drop by around 4-6 (i.e. from 55 / kill down to 49 or from 59-55). When you go from 19-20 it drops by about double that (55 down to 41). Going to 21 drops CR18 areas down to ~25/kill and even going to higher CR areas you still get at most ~30 XP/kill.

So short answer, once you hit level 21 your XP gain is going to dwindle rapidly for adventuring. See a similar post I just made in the old/necro'd XP thread for proposed solutions, but as I said there, I have brought this discussion back up in QC as well.

Ah, yes, ECL 2, forgot about that. Still Oghrann and Illithids should be a bit better than 24xp? Should they not?

They will get a LITTLE better, but not much. Currently you are under the appropriate CR (Ohgrann is CR25 while you are 21) thus you might get up to 30 XP, possibly when you are level 20-22, but then it will start going down again as you reach 23 (ECL 25) and beyond.

Well, found an area that gives 30xp per kill: East of Mistlake.

Killing is slow as the Rock Beasts are immune to crits, but still...

Yeah, both UD and Surface have area's that give XP, but if you can get ~9 less XP / kill, but kill twice as fast with a decent spawn rate the lower XP area is better as a leveling area. The 30 XP area is a more appropriate hunting ground, but is a far larger drain on resource for less benefit. This is the reason such area's should be tweaked (or the XP system itself should be tweaked) to push players toward choosing the more appropriate area OOC'ly. You can say what you want about making the choice based on what is level appropriate, but quite a few players are always going to go to wherever the best loot/xp is (depending on what they are after). Hopefully some upcoming changes may address the loot piece with regard to better rewards for more difficult/higher CR areas, but the XP bit is still up in the air for now.

At level 19 Kro's is still kicking out XP the best. Even doing the labyrinth instead of descent nets great XP I suggest you try there. Yes it is populated a lot. No it is not a munchkin fest where LG and LE just go for it OOCly. RP happens there I promise.

Now imagine when you are going to be happy about getting more than 10 XP from Driders since even Duergar only give 7. When you get to higher level epics the only things that become worth killing are the monks, the Pit Fiend and the Elemental Guardian.
