CD Installation PLUS GOG Installation of final expansion?
Okay gang, here's the situation.
I have all of my disks from NWN 1 through Storm of Zehir. However, a while back when GoG offered NWN 2 with the final expansion for a cheap-o price (like 5$) I snatched it up.
I'm wondering however, now that I have acess to both, how that would work with regards to access to BGTSCC, as well as the expansions.
My current installation has all my associated keys and whatnot, along with access to the server. But it only has up to and including Zehir.
The GoG i can install would include the one after that, whose name escapes me at the moment.
Would it be at all possible to download/install the GOG version to complete the expansion set, and then somehow convert my access to THOSE keys? I tried it before after a NWN 2 cleanup, only to have the server freak out because I wasn't usin my CDs and their keys.
Perhaps I can install GoG over the NWN 2 installation I have already?
Or, perhaps simpler, does one of the devs have the ability to simply transfer my login details to the new keys so I have the full content and still retain access?

Dunno if you ever figured it out but I'm pretty sure that the GOG version is the base game and both expansions. You should be alright installing just the GOG version, the CDs wouldn't be needed.

Re: CD Installation PLUS GOG Installation of final expansion
SoZ is the last expansion. NWN2 -> Mask of the Betrayer -> Storm of Zehir, so as long as you have those 3 you're fine.

You can swap over your own CD keys by accessing the nwn2 cdkey ini file at the install directory.
You only need to involved admin if you want to enable both sets of CD keys for your current IG username.

Re: CD Installation PLUS GOG Installation of final expansion
So I have a related question. My computer just crapped out and I loaded NWN2 - MoB - SoZ from my Platinum Edition set of disks onto a new machine. I also downloaded the Client Extension and the Server app that is supposed to recreate the gamespy server list.
I am getting error messages when I launch the game using the CE launcher. I also do not get the server list as before. The game will also not launch unless the gameplay CD is in my disk drive which was not the case before. I tried direct connect and could not get on to BG that way either.
Is there a specific file I need to put the CE files for it to work? The related "gamespy list" app (by Zelknopf)?
What about the Obsidian updates? Do I have to somehow manually update the game and expansion now that there is no longer Obsidian support? Is there some way to get the patches?
Any help would be much appreciated.

@ogr
What game version is the platin edition ? You need NWN2 patched to Version 1.023 to play.

And this seems to be the problem. Here is a handy patcher App for those who may encounter the same:

Re: CD Installation PLUS GOG Installation of final expansion
I've tried this with the GoG version before.
*Installed GoG version*
*Using GoG keys, logged into server using CD key credentials (Login name)*
*ERROR ERROR ERROR, Not related to this Key*
*Server explodes*
*World ends*
Whoooops.
So, I either need to use the CD keys with the GoG installation (possible? for base, Mask + Zehir, but certainly not final expansion)
OR
somehow install the GOG version, and use THOSE keys, with the server having the understanding that the log in I use(d) for the CDs, is now associated only (or with?) the GoG installation keys.
As it stands, I tried it before, with no luck. I've downloaded the NWN 2 GoG version again, and I'm ready to try it again. But i'd like more information on how the server would expect to react to Account Details 1 now applied to Gamekey group B instead of A.

In responce to the previous concern about the game not updating correctly, please see my post viewtopic.php?p=730775#p730775 there.
It has all the files needed for the updating. Simply download them all, and then run the in-game updater. For me, it worked like a charm. Additionaly, further instructions are within the folders on the google drive.

I also made this guide for another issue related to GOG installation & CD Keys. It may not be relevant in this particular case, though.

Re: CD Installation PLUS GOG Installation of final expansion
I tried this and the game updater would not update beyond the first patch. The patch app I posted is working but the patch to v 1.23 is taking FOREVER! I have a distant memory of that patch taking a long time but this is ridiculous.Wandering_Woodsman wrote:In responce to the previous concern about the game not updating correctly, please see my post viewtopic.php?p=730775#p730775 there.

Re: CD Installation PLUS GOG Installation of final expansion
Sorry to resurrect this topic, but i'd like to get some clear confirmations here, so there's no confusions.
First, I have two installations of NWN.
1.) My cd installations, of the base, Mask, and Zehir. I use this one currently.
2.) My GOG instalation, including base, mask Zehir, and the last one (not sure of the name offhand).
I'm wondering: Can I somehow transfer my current installation details into my GoG installation?
Would I need to have an admin update my CD keys so that the new keys with my GOG installation are recognized by the current login, which is associated with the CD install?

Re: CD Installation PLUS GOG Installation of final expansion
You should only need OC, MotB & SoZ for play. The fourth is a custom module, Mysteries of Westgate, which has no bearing on base installation.
You can edit your nwn2.ini file with the CD keys you already use on the server. If you wish to add a second set of keys to your account/s or change the keys you currently use, PM Admin (Maecius and/or Endelyon) for further instructions.
